Retarded Question

i was wondering if i could get a piece of magnifying glass to put in my aircooled light hood. i have two lights and they are on light movers. will there be hotspots to worry about? and will it eliminate the loss of light from putting on glass?

My 1000 watter came with glass, its cool if you are worried about heat. I grow in a basement so heat is not really a problem.

I have read where the glass blocks a certain percent of light. I'm not sure about magnifiying glass. If its a smaller lamp I'd give it a go. A bigger lamp and I'd for sure worry about hot spots. Then again they are on movers, which would cut down on hot spots. lol, so my answer is...maybe.

i would think a magnifying glass and an HID light would act the same way as a magnifying glass and the sun, that is create a spot so hot that fire can start.

Curiosity prompts me to ask - what purpose would this serve? The amount of light lost from going through glass is so miniscule it is hardly worth worrying about.

have you ever heard of solar burning, its when you light your herb with a magnifying glass in the sun. my guess is its not a good idea to burn your crop before its time

you would be going through more glass, and u would probably be losing more lumens even if it did concentrate some of the light. im sure not all mag glasses have the same ratio and thus you could probably get away with using a very weak mag glass. but you would still be going through more glass and losing lumens. ya

i thought i was deprived as a kid!!! lol jk, i think your older than me, nintendo wouldnt be around as a kid if your in your 30's. im 23myself.:peace:
When i was a kid color tv was the big thing & not everybody had one, they still had serials on the radio like Flash Gordon & Gang Busters, there were no cell phones,no microwaves,no push button phones,no video games,no vcr's,no cd's,no remote controled anything,no internet,no fax machines,no cable tv (antenna only) no electric start motorcycles.Stick shift was the most common transmission in cars & they were the 3 speed on the tree style.

There wasnt even transistors back then, everything ran on tubes,i used to have to run to the drug store for my father & pick up replacement tubes so my father could fix our black & white tv set or record player/hifi.

I could buy my father beer or ciggarettes back then, with just a note saying it was ok for me to pick that shit up.

lol, ya when i was a kid all this stuff just started to come out! some later than others, i.e. cell phones. imagine ONLY 20 years from now?

i wonder what is "hott" and new now that will be utterly obsolete and laughed at in time?

hey thats why the magnifying glass comes in handy!!!! to burn ants for video game deprived kids!!!! thanks for the little nostalgic trip pan. :D:peace:

I don't recall the party line but my folks still use one of those old heavy-duty Ma Bell rotary phones! The sound clarity and quality far surpasses any phone I've used since.
