So i have been lurking for a while now, trying to find what i believe is the best method for me :) I have decided to show you all with pictures, beautiful pictures... Enjoy

IMG_20130827_224436_366.jpg
Ohh what do we have here?

IMG_20130827_224449_030.jpg
Something looks fishy...

IMG_20130827_224459_907.jpg
yup, definitely fishy

IMG_20130827_224514_995.jpg
I used a simple Power Supply for the fans

IMG_20130827_224527_424.jpg
Organized and wrapped the cords

IMG_20130827_224606_215.jpg
I'm going to be building this

IMG_20130827_224620_485.jpg
I'm finding the inserts for the front of the case to hide the foil.

IMG_20130827_224637_163.jpg
With the front of the case off, I have done my best to cover all holes and cracks with waterproof reflective duct tape

IMG_20130827_224737_811.jpg
Ahh, the guts! I'm using this as my CFL reference

2 50MM Dynex fans each 72.5 CFM. these are the intake fans

IMG_20130827_224811_995.jpg
To maximize the light I'm taking one from this guy!

IMG_20130827_224819_538.jpg
I use the Velcro to move the power strip up and down to Maximize as much light as i can

IMG_20130827_224825_315.jpg
I'm going to tape up the bottom in a bit but for now I'm still messing with this setup

IMG_20130827_224836_006.jpg
This is the Exhaust fan, 50MM Dynex moving 72.5 CFM's into the DIY carbon Filter

IMG_20130827_224843_911.jpg
I taped up the door to give my little babies the most light i can possibly give them :)

My inspiration here:
https://www.rollitup.org/stealth-micro-cab-growing/641735-mewks-tiny-pc-grow-69w.html

I'm using this neut guide:
https://www.rollitup.org/nutrients/532038-full-nutrient-guide-depth.html

And I'm looking for a nice easy fem to grow and clone so as soon as I find good seeds I will kepp the updates coming..

:leaf::leaf::leaf:Enjoy and please comment :leaf::leaf::leaf:

Very cool Ricky, I'm in the process of setting up a PC grow box as well. Would you be able to provide dimensions of your case? I'm debating doing a light setup like that or just going with one large grow bulb, I do like the Velcro height adjustment you have going, very versatile.

I'd be happy to, once i get home for the day I will make a list of all that i used for the build out including the dimensions :leaf:

First let me apologize for not getting this post out last night.

So to start off, the case is just a regular Mid-tower standard ATX case, try to get one that has little to no sub-structure or at least one that will come out easy. you will need to remove all of it in order to give yourself and your plants room to work and grow.

my case dimensions are
8'' Deep
16.5'' Tall
18'' Long

If you can, try to use a Full tower as your case, those mothers are roomy ha!

I now have a total of 5 fans in this case; 3 of them are 80MM case fans dynex brand. they are good cheap fans that will last a long time. I use 2 of them as the intake fans which helps bring in air at 65 CFM's. then I use the last one as the exhaust fan to help push the air out. I will be attaching the DIY carbon filter i mentioned to this exhaust fan to help with odor later in the project. I am using2 more fans inside the case to help move air around the plant and to offer some wind like characteristics to help strengthen the plant. they are 70MM fans that I got at my local computer supply store. they move combined a total of 44 CFM's inside the case. all the fans together move in the area of 150 CFM's in and out of the case.

To power the fans I "Hot Wired" a standard ATX computer power supply, a Antec 500C 80+ model. get and cheap power supply that you want, as long as it can power the fans to move the air, it will do just fine. to "Hot Wire" the actual power supply go to the 24 pin connecter that plugs into the MoBo and find the GREEN wire and BLACK wire (note. the BLACK wire will be on the revers side of the connecter and "should be the only black wire on that side) one you have located those two wires you can bridge them. use a wire and connect the two terminals on the connecter and Vola! if you don't like the bridge method, you will need to follow those two wires a little ways back and cut, strip, and content them some how. The GREEN wire is the Power and the Black Wire is the ground.

use a good power strip, find one that has a built in surge protector. they are easy to find and cheap.

2 rolls of Water Proof Reflective Duct Tape to seal Every and ALL unnecessary holes and cracks. Its important to make the case as air tight as possible, you want to be able to move and manipulate the air any way you want. this will also offer a good reflective surface to maximize light. the more light the better right?!

1 or 2 rolls of Velcro, man this shit comes in handy!

6 standard CFL bulbs, 3 at 2700K and 3 at 6500K or what ever your preference is.

and that's about it, let your imagination run with a project like this. I know I had a lot of fun building this haha

View attachment 2796915
I add the 2 new fans, one on the left and one on the right

View attachment 2796916
Both fans are held on with Velcro so their height and angle can adjusted if necessary.

View attachment 2796917
Same Idea with this fan.

View attachment 2796918
An idea of how much room I have to work with when the light bar is 3/4 of the way down.

View attachment 2796919
Now with it all the way up!

Rock on man, thanks for the info. I have a mid tower sitting in my room that I was contemplating turning into a micro grow box. Pretty much the same dimensions as yours.

Yeah man, if you remove all the useless stuff inside the case, there is a surprisingly large amount of room to work with :leaf:

Gutted my case tonight, broke two drill bits drilling all the damn rivets out but now it's nice and open. Already have some Mylar on hand so I'll probably line it tomorrow. What are your plans for your case, are you going to fully flower a plant in it or just use it as a micro veg room?

For those drive bay gaps on the front of your case, couldn't you take the faceplate off a cd drive and glue it to cover the gap? Would look like you had a drive mounted in your case, making it look a little more like a legit computer.

That front case solution is not a bad idea at all! I will try it and post results tonight..

to answer your question, I plan on fully flower in that box, I just ordered some seeds from Nirvana seeds (they ship to the US) and they should arrive in a week or so.
I'm going to use a system called ScrOG to maximize light and to help with the space, I will also implement LST to help during flowering.

this is going to be like a Journal from seed to smoke and i hope you all stick around for the next few months to see how it all plays out :joint:

in a PC grow you will HAVE to LST and Scrog it. you will need to start LST during Veg then set up a scrog and use it all thru flower. I had my last grow scrogged then I went into to flower and it was a male huge bummer that grow was. But now I am back with another grow making all kinds of new mistakes to learn from!

When you flower are you going to run 3 2700k bulbs or are you going to use a 6500k in with the 2700k bulbs to try and add to the light spectrum?

@BDOG

I'm not to sure to be honest, what I'm going to do. I haven't decided :bigjoint:

you make a good point tho, what do you think about swapping out the bulbs?

Any time man, I'm glad that you like what you see :bigjoint: though I can't comment on any specific strains, this is my first time growing ever. I would just do as much research as you can

@BDOG I have decided to swap out the bulbs between Veg and Flower, it just makes sense:leaf:

I have Picked up some Fox Farms Ocean something or other potting soil as well as some Fox Farms Grow and Bloom Neuts! we'll see how all it goes, just got and email with my tracking number so everything should be here soon!

I prefer Jiffy soil pellets over the towel method. My most recent grow I couldn't find any soil pellets at Lowes so I emptied out a tea bag, filled it with soil, and that worked just fine. But yeah, many use the towel method, easier to see duds that way. Although after buying 25 seeds from Nirvana I had no duds, 1 took a while to germ though.

Love the stealth setup as well. But you gotta get rid of that light leak if you really need to be stealthy.

And don't underestimate the smell of the plant, getting rid of light leak will also force the air through your filter, which I hope works well for you.

I recommend hitting up your local hardware store for some weather stripping, I used that to get rid of my most annoying bits of light leak on the edges.
