I am mixing together my soil, and the only perlite I have is MG. I saw some people rinse it good before using it, you think its good for organics then? Id think itd all come off?
Do you have woods around you perlite does not have and real benefiet other then some areation and floating to the top of soil when watered. It works and I am ot bashing just asking and try to give a lil lightI am mixing together my soil, and the only perlite I have is MG. Yeah and it's mined which I want to Preserve all our Fossil Deppsits which took "millions" of years to "develop", and save them for dire necessity.Do you have woods around you perlite does not have and real benefiet other then some areation and floating to the top of soil when watered. Also to remove the dustI think folks wash MG perlite because it is enriched with MG plant food.
If you can find hardwoods the have fallen over and are rotted (can crumble with fingers which means it's broken down it adds excellent drainage areation and moisture in the soil. Also allows place for microbes to chill or what notYeah and it's mined which I want to Preserve all our Fossil Deppsits which took "millions" of years to "develop", and save them for dire necessity.
Like Petroleum! You can synthesize Anything from it, So we should Stop using it up as a fuel and start using BioMass Ethanol--NOT Synthesized ethanol which is denatured and Blie and gunks up engines--Real Ethanol burns clean and will Remove the carbon build up on your engines, but Only that good Old Shine! Why it's illegal.!
But why do you ask if he's got some woods?
I personally just used Sand and Rocks for my aeration. Though I read a very Fine sand can lead to compaction instead of drainage...
Thats why, your on the money.I think folks wash MG perlite because it is enriched with MG plant food.
If your thinking cook first without aeration and than add before use that would be a mistake. And per lite is fine there bro. Does provide a space for mirco-life to gather in and around, provides good drainage and aeration. The floating thing is more of a problem (for me at least) in larger no till pots. after 2 runs i noticed a greater (density) at the bottum few inches of my pots, and near the top few inches looked to be 50% plus per lite. BUT i believe watering practices have more to do with this phenomenon. less water more often and you probable wont have ANY issues at all.Thats why, your on the money.
I do have woods near me, Im organic so dont want synthetics. I want to have my soil start "cooking" now so I dont have time to buy anything, I was thinking my soil could cook and mix in aeration before I use it? Whats your guys' suggestions?

thanks for sharing! Man do i want to get into bonsai growing! i think it would be so much fun.rocks and sand do not hold air OR water the way a good drainage material does. they also don't perform cation exchange which a good drainage material does.
Clay is responsible for the CEC in NATURAL soils build by PARENT MATERIALS. this is why we NEED a good source of drainage in indoor growing. here is a link for you, enjoy

yes sir! I venture over to plant problems, general growing every once in a while. come running back here to organics. I was just talking to a friend about this same thing. why are soil organic growers so much happier and friendlier than your average chem y grower?? I say average because im sure there are many exceptions. But we deducted that organic growers don't have much of an ego complex.I also wanted to say, I really like the organic crowd. Definitley a different group of people, cares about the planet and what's in it.
Got any pics of the ingredients of this MG perliteWell, what I want to know is if I can rinse the perlite since its miracle gro brand. Can I use it with my organic soil?
I used clay as well actually... Cation exchange?! But I just thought clay was Not for aeration, because they say to Add organic material and some sand if garden is hard clay.rocks and sand do not hold air OR water the way a good drainage material does. they also don't perform cation exchange which a good drainage material does.

exactly this is what I thought... The urea nitrogen...I think folks wash MG perlite because it is enriched with MG plant food.
nice great idea! I didn't really think about that, I'm working on my new mix here soon and I'll be adding some of those Four Shore! Also to remove the dust

Hahaha yes. If this is all you have go for it... BUT I would wash it first a couple times to just help rinse the nutes off. And next time find a different source, order online, or a farm supply store locally.Well, what I want to know is if I can rinse the perlite since its miracle gro brand. Can I use it with my organic soil?
Cation exchange?!
Oh shit so glad you mentioned this!!!! Completely forgot! Thanks for the reminder...If your adding biochar or anything you need to charge it first before adding to soil or it will absorb ammendments
Im not adding that this time.If your adding biochar or anything you need to charge it first before adding to soil or it will absorb ammendments
