Is Rockwool better to grow with than Soil like Miracle-Grow? Say for instance if I was never to add nutrients to my plant, just let it grow. Which media would be better to grow in. Soil or rockwool.

However, I did buy the Grow/ Micro/ Bloom Combo pack from Advanced Nutrients.com. If I use these nutrients with rockwool with 2 plants inna 4 x 4 foot closet how often should I add nutrients?? everytime I water??

Rockwool doesnt have the nutrients it takes to grow a plant like soil does. You are going to want to take it easy on feeding them at first, low doses. Every 3rd watering I would just give water, no nutes. You will want the rockwool to almost completely dry out before watering. I pick them up and can tell by the weight that they need water. You will figure it out. Good luck.

If you insist upon using Advanced Nutrient fertilizers, go REALLY easy on the strength of the mix. AN is notorious for mis-labeling thier nutrients. You'll know what I mean after your plants are laying over crisp as a potatoe chip.

Nothing wrong with their 3 part.

And the labeling thing isn't confined to AN. None of them gets it right for everyone, they can't. Everyones plants are different.

You gotta start out light no matter what bottles you use.

the question is do you want to grow with soil or hydroponics??
if it's you first grow imo, i would start with soil. it eliminates the need for adding nutrients just add water for the whole grow. here's Vic's recipe it's been used a zillion times with great success

best of luck.

Vic's Super Soil Recipe.

Revised Recipe, after several failures due to bad manure sources, I now use the following recipe. Results have been excellent and the clones seem to take off right away instead of having a slow growing settling in period.

1 Bale sunshine mix #2 or promix (3.8 cu ft)
8 cups Bone Meal - phosphorus source
4 cups Blood Meal - nitrogen source
1 1/3 cups Epsom salts - magnesium source
3-4 cups dolomite lime -calcium source & pH buffering
1 tsp fritted trace elements
4 cups kelp meal.
9kg (25 lbs) bag pure worm castings

- Mix thoroughly, moisten, and let sit 1-2 weeks before use.

Substitutions

- The original recipe was a success, but I simply needed to experiment. In addition, sometimes not all ingredients were always available. Therefore, here are some possible additions and/or substitutions:

Blood & Bone Meal - when trying to cut costs
Kelp Meal - contains over 62 trace minerals. Good supplement for reducing the manure content to speed availability of soil.
Worm castings - excellent source of micro nutrients.
Bat guano - excellent for top dressing a week into flowering.
Seabird guano

not only does it bring about the critters, but it also retails moisture way to easy, which contributes to high humidity levels that are hard if not impossible to control properly. AH, no comment, use General Hydro's basic 3 series. Use MH and HPS lights, unless you can afford an LED with 6-7 spectrums. For example if you have a 48 cubic foot space and only grow 1 plant in it, a high quality high yielder, like trainwreck or super lemon haze and follow the directions on the bottles, top them and nutrient water several times daily, your yields and quality will be fantastic. Catch up on the YouTube channel NE1CANGROW and you'll be amazed. Happy Harvesting :)
