wikipedia:

loose cellulose, fiberglass (both blown and in batts), and rock wool (both blown and in batts) all possess an r-value of roughly r–-2.5 to r–-4 per inch.

well at home depot they say it has an R value of 0

and i hear it works great for sound proofing

im pretty new to it atm like but its a fucking pain in the ass man best go for jiffy pucks or root riots or just got straight into soil that how i used to do it and never had half the shit i do now hahah

yes works great for cloning, i use it all the time


their not that hard to use just ph and bucket of water to like 5.5-5.8 toss some cubes and let them soak for 10 mins and start cloning your ass off

Drop seeds directly into rockwool cubes that have been pH adjusted. Works great.

I heard jiffy pucks have a wacky pH a lot of the time, Rockwool tends to neutral and adjusts depending on what you water it with.

soak overnight in 5.3-5.2 water and you will be golden....

Good insulation, kind of sucks for growing. It's not that is super-terrible, just that it has several drawbacks when compared to rapid rooters, and no real redeeming qualities, except maybe that you can buy it in big blocks.

Rockwool is a good insulator. It has a high R-value, is fire resistant and makes a good sound control barrier. I dont think the rockwool cubes you get at the garden store are just cut from bats of insulation though. Different production processes.

Ok from someone who has used several diff. types of rockwool.... Rofl that isnt the same type most Hydroponics stores sell. Most sell grodan rockwool like this one:

The one rofl is talking about isnt true rockwool, ive used it before. Use grodan rockwool. Its works great, its cheap. Use with clones or for new seeds and just drop them in the little pre-drilled holes. DONT buy the rockwool conditioner. Its literally ph'd water with almost no other minerals. Ph some water, and let the rockwool sit in it for 10-15 min. Add your seeds or clones and boom your done. One big mistake many make is squeezing or squishing the rockwool while Ph'ing it .. DONT..It will make the new roots work 10 times harder to grow through the rockwool. Good luck and hope this helps
