Roots coming out of rockwool cubes

6x6in rockwool cubes in ebb and flow tray. Roots are long and are in the groves of the flood tray where water stands for a couple hours. Would these roots still be alive?

Not gonna hurt anything. They will prune themselves if they can't live. All the roots that matter are inside the cube

I became worried because my cubes were a little dry and was hoping they were able to get water from the roots that are in the tray out of the cubes

Yes, the roots that are in the grooves of the flood tray where water stands for a couple of hours should still be alive. In an ebb and flow hydroponic system, the roots are designed to withstand periods of flooding and draining. However, the key here is oxygen. Even though the roots are submerged in water, they still need access to oxygen to survive.

As long as it doesn't go completely dry, you're good. A little dryback forces the roots to search for water, too much causes ph, ec, and other issues.
