Roots out bottom of pot

Okay guys, been vegging 8 weeks now, all 8 plants have been in 42 litre pots since propagation.. I have just put them into 12/12 two days ago. Whilst clearing out water trays, i noticed very long roots (some even 8 inches long) out bottom of pot. This is for all 8. I wish i could take a picture but it's virtually impossible to hold these pots up one handed. GH nutes, rockwool cubes, watering once/twice day. What should I do? I mean is transplanting needed with such a large pot? Help guys!

Are you watering once per day because the planter dried out or is this just a schecule you decided on? It is my suspicion you aren't letting the planter dry out so with the potter always saturated the roots don't have to try at all. Letting the planter dry out mskes the roots follow the wetness around inside the dirt..

I can not think of how to explain this. First of all talk watering habits with us.

Watering once a day as the plant gets quite dry in rockwool, and rockwool is fantastic for shoving lots of nutes or water in without over watering.. But truth be told, water of course collects in the plant pot tray. So in terms or resolving the issue, if i water once every two days.. Causing plant to dry up quite fair amount, yet no water at bottom of tray, will this help at all?

by the way, you need not explain as i do understand fully what you are saying, extra info i water 200ml water per plant (nutes 200ml too, 400ml if flushing)

I gotta say...you seem to have a lot of answers and knowledge...are you just looking for someone to tell you that you do not have to transplant because of the difficulty of doing so? If that is the case...leave them where they are.

Haha i can understand why you think that, no, i will transplant if needed! I want my baby's to be happy, i apologise if i have come across like that.. I have so much to learn, if i transplant, the roots out the bottom, will they be ruined if i take the plant out? What size would you suggest to move up to? Shall i water less..

8 weeks and a 42L pots are full

do you have room for 100L pots ?

you could just add an auto watering valve to the tray and bottom feed them, if you ph your feed it should not cause any issues you could also fill the tray with clay pebbles or perlite

but yeah they might get pot bound or root rot

upto you tricky without any pics

big plants like that you want them in plastic bag pots or cheaper fabric bag pots that way you and plonk them into the new pot and just cut open the old one, big fancy pots make transplanting really hard, I don`t even like to cut our 15L+ fabric ones cos they cost us over £5 each but the plastic bag pots they work well and cut nice and easy and you can get them in sizes from .5L upto 40L really easy and 100`s of them go in the post together flat easy, and they take up almost no space when your not using them

1L to 40L plastic bag pots and 50L to 300L fabric pots are the way to go if your growing good size trees

or easy way maybe to set up a flood and drain

but I think just flooding the tray should be good you can give them a day wet and a day dry or they even do watering timers that can turn on for set amounts of times every day to once a week and run on batteries and don`t even need a pump so with a water butt you can sort something out east

but next time veg in cheap plastic bag pots if your unlucky and have to cut them at least they cost almost nothing

good luck dude photos when their in bloom please :)
