I grow a lot of different strains as Attitude keeps sending me exotic varieties to try. So I have access
to a dozen different sativas, indicas and rudys and my every day smoke is an auto-flowerer, currently
RoadRunner via Attitude.
Ruderalis, aka autoflowerers, do not have a vegetative state. They go straight from seedling to flower mode.
A ruderalis will typically have a large main cola and maybe a few smaller buds and budlets. A one ounce yield
per plant is a lot. I just harvested 3 RR and will be lucky to see a total of 3 ounces dried bud. But the THC level is high, 12-15%
I believe, and the buzz produces a severe case of chair-dropsey. You know, when you can't walk past a chair
without dropping into it.
Because the commercial ruderalis genetics are so manipulated the plants themselves are fragile. So stress and hermies
are more common with the auto-flowerers. Gotta keep an eye on them from 4-5 weeks on to make sure you don't
have a hermie pop up. Exact thing just happened to my brother with a batch of RR. 3 grew impressive colas and
2 went hermie.
Autos are fast, my RR go from seed to pipe in 67-70 days. They are also expensive as you cannot clone them. I
tried and was frustrated.
Good luck, BigSteve.
