Runtz try three

At 9:00PM 1/10/23 several seeds were wrapped in paper towel then dropped into a cup with 10 ml of unPH'ed water for germination. The cup is now on the 'fridge. I expect pops by Saturday.

While I'm waiting for these to pop I'll ready some red Solo cups with the organic soil. Later before transplanting from the red Solo's I'll choose an upgraded soil.

Here we go. If you feel the urge to intercept disaster chime in!

start your seeds in perlite rich soil. from what i have seen you have a problem with rootzone i think you are overwatering somehow try adding a handful of perlite in each cup so it holds more air and less water.

and for seedlings you can go half miracle gro (i have never used it but its organic soil as i see) and half unfertilized phed peat or plain rinsed coco coir. it will be gentler on them and coco coir helps with healthy roots ime.

also dont keep them in solo cups for too long.

wish you the best

The organic mirical gro soil is no good.. it turned acouple of mine yellow years ago when i tried it.. regular MG soil works great but that organic is fucked for cannabis.. youll be chasing you PH the whole time

Good luck..

Question,, why wrap the seeds in paper towel and put them in a cup of water? Just soak the seeds in water for 12-24 hours and plant them.. or just do the paper towel method without throwing it into a cup of water..
I put the seeds in paper towel so they don't 'dry out'. 10 ml of water barely wets a half sheet paper towel and the seeds aren't sitting in water. It's not wet in the cup, more moist.

OK, I can find something else by the time it's needed.

Adding the perlite is a good idea. I think I have a bag of perlite outside in my shed. I'll look tomorrow.

Fuck that's a lot of seeds you have there. lol
Thanks. I'm an expert at making seeds.

What kind of humidifier should I look for? I have a 5 x 10 tent with a plastic divider partitioning the tent into two spaces, so a 5 x 5 space.

My light is an UD-4000HPS Full Spectrum LED (400 watts).

Yes. The footprint of the light is supposed to fit a 5x5 area. However, I have a second UD-4000HPS that I think has a malfunctining switch. If I fix the switch it may become a usable unit.

Is that the Veg coverage or flower coverage?

Looks to be the Veg coverage.

I don't think then light is the cause of your issue, but it may lead to some disappointment in flower.

Make sure you have drain holes in the bottom of your solo cups! This will help the dry/wet cycle.

What have your temps been like? If I recall they were a little low your last run.

Best of luck!
A few minutes ago I raised the light and turned up the power for heat. I'll post temps later.

I think the specs you cite may be for the smaller unit. I can buy more lights later if necessary.

Just my 2 cents, I don't understand pot growers' fixation on using solo cups, or any other container meant for drinking. I tried them for one grow and it was annoying enough trying to poke holes in them without cracking or splitting...I guess once the plants are growing they work just as well as any other container, but why go with something that requires modification right off the bat?

Why not use some 3 or 4 inch square nursery pots? They're not expensive at all, they already have drain holes of an appropriate size, and will last way longer than solo cups, plus you can reuse them...

What does the manufacturer suggest for seedlings? As far as light height and percentage?

I understand you are also trying to use the light for heat but it would not end well throwing seedlings under 400w right out the gate afaik.

A drill bit is commonly used for irrigating solo cups
Just a heads up
I reuse mine for months

Takes 2 seconds to cut 3 holes with siccors around the bottom edge. I personally do a clear solo cup inside a regular one. This way I can keep an eye on root development while they are young.
