rye over brown rice

is it ok to use rye over brown rice because they dont sell brown rice flower around here anywhere

Look at a whole foods store or any health and fittness store.

To answer your question, yes you can use rye. Its a different recipe.

Yes, but the brown rice is turned to flour and mixed with vermiculite because it doesn't have the properties needed to be used whole, rye does, whole rye is a far better substrate and an infinitely better spawning material than any flour based substrate. it is better than bird seed because the moisture window is wider, it is better than popcorn because the kernels are smaller and popcorn is difficult to fully moisturize in the middle.

oh well thats good i put a cup or rye flower and two cups verm and a cup of water and filled the 1/2 pint jars i used a pf tech of shroomry the brown rice one i did everything the same i just used that stone ground rye instead of brown rice so i should be ok

Again and again it is always that stupid PF Tek. Mushrooms grow inspite of PF tek, not because of it.

You can use any grain, you can use any grass seed, you can use dried grass, wheat straw, oat straw, dog food, toilet paper rolls, shit from any grass eating animal, compost, worm compost, newspaper or cardboard. This thing will eat almost anything but concrete.
