I got a whole gang of sprouts, about a week and a day old, and they don't look good. I had to get in there with a tool (sterilized tool, sterilized gloves) to get a few of the sprout heads, but even the seedlings I didn't have to mess with aren't too pleased.

Ph between 5 and 6

Light is an hlg 100 about 3 feet away

Temps have been fluctuating, lowest it got was in the mid 60s, but it stays closer to 80.

Been wetting the rockwool when it's dried back to (roughly) 10-20%. They've been wet longer than normal, so I've removed them from the perforated tray to expose more rockwool and bring them closer too the heating pad.

Never had this set of issues in the past. Once they sprout, they're usually good.

I respectfully disagree. I've had plenty of success with rockwool. In the past, my issue with rockwool has always been germination. This is the first instance where I'm having issues with the sprout, post germination.

Rockwool isn't perfect, but this is user error. I'm just trying to figure out what's wrong so I can figure out what I can do to fix it or do differently.

It looks like it needs to be wetter. Is your humidity lower than usual for them? Anyway I'd water them and if I was really unsure about water. I'd water a few and see if they perked up.

Appreciate the input, I'll give it a shot.

Edit: humidity has been as low as 45 for roughly a day, but never less. My humidifier keeps it at or above 60%.

Sup man. First off germinate your seeds in a soaked, ringed out paper towel, in plastic bag for about 3 or 4 days.
Also, hit her with at least 320 watts LED. And expand grow space, ventilation good.

Im not hitting my seedlings with a 320 watt led.

The seedlings germinated just fine. This is an external cause.

I think a 4x4 suits my needs just fine, ventilation and all.

Did you place the seeds deeper into the cubes than normal? Have you verified heating pad isn’t making it too warm/malfunctioning? Old genetics? New poly hybrid with no vigor? I would give them a low dose of kelp and aloe for a pick me up

I put them in a little more shallow than I have in the past, just a little push. The heating pad is working about as well as one could hope for. I do believe these seeds are between 1 and 3 years old, but I cant confirm. I havent had them very long. These arent conventional modern polyhybrids, its a worked line of tknl5/haze by akbb and professor p, respectively. If it was a vigor issue, I wouldnt expect it to be this uniform. I will give them a little aloe on their next watering in a day or so.

I don't like rockwool myself and just pop mine in promix hp but wondering if you maybe got a different brand of wool?

Looks to me like the pH is way off possibly causing this shit. As they all are suffering it sure isn't just a bad seed or two.

If anything I'd say they were waterlogged and maybe too warm. I never use heat mats for anything after losing 36 cuttings to stem rot over 20 years ago.

I appreciate the input. I agree with the possibility of a ph issue. I'll have to do some thinking about when and what could have caused a spike in either direction.

I buy grodan rockwool in bulk. I plan on switching to rapid rooters, but I wanted to use the last of my small cubes, which I pretty much have at this point.

I'm 57,been at it since 19 w/bag weed seeds,seems every yr. w/breeder polyhybrid seeds germinating healthy vigorous seedlings is more and more troubling,want 20 seedlings start at least 30 seeds, they pop and die frequently,weak breeder seeds and a sign of the times,last 4-5 seasons have been constantly hitting up my library to start more and replace shitty results,plan is now no plan,it's incredible.
