As per the thread title I need to dismantle the strips but I can not get the wire out of the connectors, do they just pull out or do I need to do something to the connector on the strip to get it to release the wire? Thanks for you assistance.

On top of the connector, there should be a little lever you can push in, push that in and pull the wire out, it may require a little force, as use always had a hard time pulling them out.

And how to put wire into it? Should something click, grab wire?
Strip sheath off the wire back to the bare wire about 5mm then all you need to do is push the wire into the hole the mechanism will clamp down on the wire. To release all you need to do is push down on the clip or above the wire and the mechanism will release.

On my strips nothing clicks or grabs wire.
LTQB22A are the strips.

If they won't work, there are solderable spots on the opposite side of the strip.
pay attention to the datasheet picture of the wires, you need 8mm exposed copper, I do not remember the diameter, but think it is something like 1 to 1.2mm, some can just confirm that.
sometimes you need to open the clip and check the wire seating first.

A ballpoint pen works well to depress the release tab. I think the lock is just a guillotine type clip that the wire slides through and wedges so it won't slide back out. You need to push on the tab to move the clip away from the wire and then you can pull it out.
