Sativa Week 8 - Foxtails?

I’m working on finishing out my Diesel and Blue Dream plants. I’m just wrapping up Week 8 and waiting for the trichomes to cloud over.

I noticed that I’m now getting new calyx growth and white hairs. I don’t know if it’s foxtails or if it’s a sativa trait where they have new growth late that I’ve read about.

Anyone experience this? Should I be doing something different? Below are pics of the colas and my setup. (I had some early nute burn I corrected so I’m aware of the leaf tips being yellow).

I’m growing under a Mars Hydro TS3000 led and a TS2000 @75% power. I currently backed my lights off a little bit, and just yesterday adjusted my light schedule down to a 13/11 from 12/12 to try and encourage them to finish out.

I’m growing in Coco with AN jungle juice Micro, Bloom, Cal/Mag, at 50% strength and a 15ml of Bud Candy per 5 gallons.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and recommendations, I always appreciate you guys and gals.

if i drop my ppm to around 400 (run around 12-1300 ppm up till then) after they're done swelling, and cut back slightly on N, i have a lot less foxtailing issues. seems like they don't need nearly as much food at that point, and they'll try to turn any excess into new growth, instead of finishing up what's already there

You get that a lot more at the end if you keep your lights close, backing them off a bit will reduce it, but it's still totally normal. Lots of plants go through a final growth spurt at the end.

Okay, I was running 1200ppm and I’ve dropped to about 900ppm @ 1.8 EC.

Maybe I’ll try dropping my ppm down a bit more and just eliminate the Bud Candy all together at this point.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it.

Right on, thank you! That’s reassuring. I’m just trying to avoid these things pulling a jack and the beanstalk on me over night from the tips of the colas. Ha! I think I’ll be good if I can just make it another week.
