Sativas are actually easier to grow

Never heard of a sativa pulled at 42 days with cloudy trichs.. i grew c99 and i thought it was fast at 55 days. Even my c99 x texada timewarp was 55 days. I don't buy dispensary stuff.. i just grow my own as i waited 35 years to legally grow in CDN. Hard to find the soaring sativa high in a quick flowering.. purple satellite for outdoors from Ace is on my bucket list..
Nah...what this guy is implying is that if you harvest any old hybrid early...clear trichomes...you will get an up buzz like dispo sats. Dispo sats are pretty crappy and what he says may be true. But has nothing to do with true well grown sativas that we love...

Who knows what you're getting at a dispensary. They can call it anything they want. And besides, half the stuff out there is basically the same. It tastes the same, looks the same, smells the same, etc... The only difference is some ridiculous name. Nobody can actually tell the difference between Purple Pineapple Cherry Mint Cookies and Super Sour Zkittles Haze Berry Kush.

Lots of sativas grown indoor show recommendations of flipping at 15 days from seed or 7 days from clone due size..so a malawi would be 12-15 weeks from seed. Pretty good for a 24-27% thc.

I bumped up against my Malawi pheno GT yesterday and it smelled up the whole room like I was in a flower shop. Sticky too. You sure don't get anything like that in a Dispo. 8-)

Damn. Now you have me wanting to get some Malawi going. I can't make up my mind! I think I'm just going to drop packs of seeds into a bowl, close my eyes, and grab a pack. :bigjoint:

Zamaldelica x old timer haze.. besides the stretch..having to supercrop and tie down horizontal.. with leds..i find they finish time speeds up by 4-7 days.. pic is week 10. I used a polarized lens because leds tend to not give the real picture.

Stay safe.. self isolate so you are fit for harvest.

Damn nice job with that plant. Did you make the cross yourself? You're going to be rewarded with some nice smoke when it's finally ready to harvest. I recently grew an Old Timers Haze that went 20 weeks flowering and could have gone longer. It wouldn't stop.

I've crossed Ace's Old Timers Haze with Ace's Tikal, Nirvana's Maui Waui, Seedsman's Mama Thai, and a Pakistani Chitral Kush x Durban cross I made. I also made a bunch of feminized seeds as well. I sure like the Old Timers Haze. It's a real treat that you won't get anywhere unless you grow it yourself because you won't find it in any dispensary and chances of finding someone you know growing it are slim to none. Everyone's on the latest hybrid from the most recent "Best" breeder in the world.

i find cannabis one of the most easiest plants to grow it is a weed after all i have grow crops with zero care
I'm only on my third and forth grows, getting easier and more fun all the time. Yes just about anybody can grow cannabis, but not everybody can grow extremely good cannabis

Also stopped receiving alerts about this thread so had to post again. Been happening a lot, there a setting i am missing?

I bought the cross from beanhoarder at hempdepot. I bought Ace seeds as they like to stick to sativas.. i bought bangi haze, panama, and malawi. Malawi looks to be a tasty strain with high thc. I like these plants though..more leaning toward zamaldelica. Been a true adventure this winter..destroyed gnats at week2 of flower..mosquito dunks..dtw.. in coco..3gal. In shed.. keeping power under 800w total..fan..heater at night..lights to warm area..450w diy led..vanity lights actually..went pretty good.. big stretch..supercrop..tied down.. love the sativa flowers.. looking to buy bridgelux gen 2 strips..20200318_214204.jpg

The old timer haze is what i really wanted in a strain.. how did you achieve FEM?.. what did u spray with? Silver? Gib?

I am eyeing up purple satellite from ace. Indoor she would need slow transition in light schedule as she is an outdoor strain.. also killer a5 haze.. but next is Malawi FEM seeds..

I really like the OTH. It's a great strain and made me realize how much I missed a true sativa. I had taken a couple clones and used those for the fem seeds by spraying one with STS and pollinating the other. OTH seems to clone really easy. I had roots in a week cloning in coco.

I really like what ACE has. I have about ten of their strains but I've only grown out about 4. Old Timers Haze, Congo, Panama, Tikal, and Pakistani Chitral Kush. All have been exceptional smoke.

I heard you have to make home made colloidal silver because its stronger and the stronger the more sacks of pollen to make female seeds. Never have done it but its supposed to be easy. My 2 cents: use it for plants, its an antimicrobial and can destroy good bacteria in the human body.

Killer 15 haze looks dank af too not going to lie.

Ive been growing off and on since the early 2000s. Some strains that I have grown: sweet tooth, bog bubble, bubba kush, afghani, haze19xskunk, sour d, tangie, sour joker, cindy 99, chernobyl, stardawg to name a few. Now its common for people to say sativas are more difficult to grow but that has not been my experience. Sativas seem more energetic in growth and grow like a vine. in ScrOG even a lanky sativa will barely stretch through the screen if it has a 2+ square foot canopy and will end up looking bonsai-like. It's easy to control any sativa's height with scrog. Sure sativas can take an extra month of flowering but they will also yield better, be less sensitive to nutes, and be less prone to bud rot. So despite the common myth that sativas are more difficult to grow i think its indicas that are more difficult to grow.
Wow. A contrarian. Not so sure youre sort of experienced or retarded. None of those strains you grew have enough true sativa in them and the percent sativa was selected with the indica traits in the phenotype.

A true sativa can go feb to September in the true tropics from seed. On the mainland with long assed summer days till August good luck getting it to finish hard before rains and mold get them. I run my sativas in dep. Start pulling tarp July 1st and done mid to late September.

Side by side an indica and hybrids can take pH changes, nutrient abuse heat waves and insect pests way better than sativas can.

Have you ever seen true colas, i mean what old timers call donkey dicks. A branch,or top 3 feet long of bud, you dont even see internode spaces?

I just finished chopping my 2 plants. 1 is trimmed and curing. Next one is this weekend. Any suggestions how to trim the flowers quicker? 1st plant took 4 hours (i like to remove all leaves). 7.5oz. Next plant is slightly bigger. Not bad for led screw in bulbs (315w).

She really was easy to grow and worth it. Thinking a harvest of 15oz.
Zam x old timer haze.

Snip faster to trim faster. Don't snip the tips of your fingers with sharp trimming implements. It sucks. Don't ask me how I know. :bigjoint:

I won't ask. I do need to trim faster.. edward scissor hands.. i would be fired from a cannabis farm..

The smoke report: sweet citrus..like mango.. opened lid for 1 minute..wife comes downstairs.."WTF?" You trimming? High is uplifting and laughing pretty good. Pretty good yield for DTW in coco (mainline training) with megacrop.

On deck: malawi from ace seeds. Recommended to switch her into flowering after 15 days from seed, or starting from clones rooted for at least 7 days. I think wait and clone. I have jacks 5-12-26 now.

We have nothing but time on our hands so sativas are looking good.

Hope all the sativa lovers are safe with a supply to get thru the next months.

How did the OTH/Zamaldelica turn out? Or did I miss a post somewhere? I still have a big jar of OTH that I grew. I really enjoy a pure sativa it's the 20 week flowering time that I don't really care for.

I thought about growing Malawi but I chose the Ethiopian instead. One thing I like about ACE is they put dates on their packs of seeds. I've had some longer than others and the Ethiopian had the oldest date of 16/09/2016. I make more seeds of everything I grow from ACE so I get regulars. This time I ended up with the minimum 1 male I need for pollen out of a pack of 5 seeds. The male is starting to drop pollen so I have him and one of the females alone in my veg tent to do their thing for a few days then I'll collect the rest of the pollen and freeze it for future use. That leaves me 3 plants to either flower or make more crosses with while still producing several hundred seeds or more for my seed vault.

Next up is ACE Honduras. After that I'm looking at either the Golden Tiger or Orient Express. Africa - South America - Southeast Asia. I'm taking a trip around the world. Although I might make a stop in the Middle East and grow some of their Lebanese. Decisions decisions.
