this guy had one side of his plant mh and the other side hps and the mh side had much bigger buds. this is an interesting subject. theres a bunch of people on icmag that say they get better results with mh bulbs in flower
i've run plants under MH light in flower with both hortilux bulbs and the sunmaster warm deluxe back in the day. none outperform a good HPS light. you are trying to reproduce nature is all. MH lights have more UV light so he may have gotten a better high or more potent plant but his MH buds would have also been more airy. that is what i always noticed.

thats a big setup. a 1000 watter covers 6x6 right?
5x5 in a XXL or Raptor hood. a little bigger than 4x4 in the smaller hoods. if you have two hoods side by side then they cover more area between them as the footcandles overlap and are stackable. so the plants in between the two lights are getting half the footcandles they need from one light and half from the other.

footcandles? whats that?
the accurate way to measure the usefulness of the light your plants receive. one of the biggest misconceptions is that lumens are important in growing plants. a lumen is the measurement of light visible to the human eye. since bulbs were traditionally for lighting things so humans could see they invented lumens as a measurement of the brightness of a bulb. plants don't use lumens. they use footcandles, PAR value, and sectrum of course. problem is that all these manufacturers still use lumens when describing their bulbs when they know that they are not being used in street lamps but rather as grow lamps. you get a lot of newbs talking about lumens per square foot and so on. it's all misinformation. don't ever worry about your lumens. any good light meter will measure footcandles (fc). optimal levels for MJ growth are 5,000-10,000fc. too high and you harm the plant. too low and you deprive it.

i'm down to get the show on the road. just gimme the layout of the room (doors, windows, nooks, and their dimenions if you can). then let me know what stylr of grow you are going to do. flood tables, aeromist, etc... the more info the better. you want a veg room and flower room. do you need to keep moms and clones in your veg room?

like Sencha said, return those hoods and that fan. get a CAN HO fan or Vortex one. get sun system hoods. the blockbusters are great but so are the cool sun XL's and yield masters. youshould eb able to to return the stuff for an exchange. especially since you are upgrading a little. plus, when you are ready to order more stuff let me know...if you aren't afraid to order online then i can crush those prices for you from my distributor. just read the posts above.

Hey wassup so how necessary are the better hoods because I don't have a lot more cash to spend on equipment considering I still have got the ac, ran the electrical or insulated the garage yet.

K so yes I want to do seperate veg and flower and I would like to keep my moms n clones in there but if needed can keep them in a closet in the room. I would like to do aero/nft in the 8 ft pvc fence posts I was thinking about having rails come out of both sides of the res.
Dimensions of the garage are 20x18 wit 5x6 workshop area in back of garage.

EPIC for your first grow ever. Great job man. I'll take a little side credit but you really did an amazing job figuring out how to ready your plants and the nutes. We're gonna finish off those Dyna nutes this next run and move you up to something a little more complex. "He's all grownz up!" :-P

Yo Scooby. When are you starting the greenhouse construction?

Also, could you PM me with a parts list. I'm putting that light controller in this weekend. Just let me know what breakers to buy and what kind of wire to use.

I've done this. Even on a much smaller scale, it was a nightmare. I'll stick to aero cloning but that's it for me.

need some actual dimensions of the room though. i see your NFT system is basically 4x19 but i wouldn't know where to fit it. covering a 4x4 space with a 1000w light means you DO NOT need to get huge hoods or those XXXL ones. any decen sun system will work; yiled master, cool sun, etc...
