Just put a screen over the top of my veg, they are coming through the holes about an inch at the moment, should I top these now or should I have done it before or does it matter if I don't?

Thanks for any help guys

I sort of gathered that but some advice says there's no need to top in a Scrog and other advice says its best to Scrog not to have some big main colas.

either way is it too late to do it now?

Thanks

in a scrog, you don't need to top. you're going to get a lot of growth tips and it really isn't necessary. topping slows things down.

Topping, i would say is optional in a ScrOG. The benefit of topping lies in the fact that it will slow down growth on your top and allow your lower branches to get up to the screen. I guess it really depends on how much screen you are trying to cover. If you are trying to train the plant over a very large area, you shouldn't top. The lower shoots will have plenty of time to grow as you weave through large distances with the top. So, what kind of ScrOG are you looking to do? How big is your screen? When do you plan to flower? How many plants do you have? Answer these questions and you will know whether or not to top.

Sleepy is definitely right, like usual. i topped all 12 of my plants in my 9x4 screen. like sleepy said i knew that the whole screen was ganna fill with that many plants branching into it. so i topped all of them and it has turned out well. lots of lower branches made it to the screen and are going to become nice colas. i topped my plants about 4 days b4 they hit the screen. i do have to say that scrogging is probly the most fun way to grow. its so much fun to manipulate your plants and watch them grow like vines horizontally. and you will notice that branches that shouldnt be shit become nice tops because everything is getting equal light.

Thanks for your help guys. I decided I had to get on a make a decision when I was waiting for answers and I topped them, since I have you can see the lower branches shooting up, I get the feeling that it will help the screen fill up quicker, its gonna be a few weeks filling up anyway so i think they should have plenty of recovery time.

Thanks again

I also thought that having a large main cola that is bigger than the other buds would go against the idea of scrogging where everything receives the same amount of light, I would have to wind up tying it down or something.

Anyway its done now will let you know how I get on - and yes scrogging does look like a fun way, this is my first grow but its cfl so I think scrog was really the only way to go (in my opinion of course)

sounds good man. lots of weaving and training to do. should be good. 2 days ago was week 2 flowering for me so i stopped training and clipping. make sure u have good ventilation blowing through the canopy. i can get quite damp and dark in there, ideal for mold.
