Hello and Happy New Year to RIU!!

I normally pollinate popcorn buds. However, this time I dusted a couple larger buds that are now the size of a tennis ball. It's been 7 weeks and the seeds are popping out of the calyx. Some even falling out on their own. I'm wondering if the seed in the center of the bud is done. I don't want to clip the bud to find out they are still green. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Chances are if the seeds are popping out the are done on the inside also but your seeds still need to dry for a couple weeks..

In my experience seeds deeper into the bud tend to be closer to completion. Having said that, I try to avoid digging into buds that are still growing just to find the seeds, even if the seeds are the goal. Wait for the buds to finish. Gather any seeds that are already clearly brown and busting out of the calyx, especially if they're already falling out on their own. These seeds have a knack for hitting the soil and germinating very quickly.

Happy chucking!
