Seed issues.

Alright well, this is my first attempt at a grow. I've had my buddy talk me through most of it. Got my grow room set up, simply for personal use.
I have ten seeds germinateing for about 24hours now in damp paper towel.
Some of the seeds have what appears to be white fuzz growing on them.
What is this?

Also is this the best way to induce seed sproutage. I don't have the money to keep buyin' feminized seeds if I screw this up.

Somebody please help!

Sounds like mold. You might want to throw out all the seeds with that fuzz on them. I usually soak the seeds in distilled water for 4-8 hours and them plant them in the dirt ( or rockwool cube ) - in soil I put them about 1/4 below the top and then sprinkle a little soil ontop.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot,
whats the success rate on your method, pretty good?
Also does germination time depend on the strain?

you can try segregating your seeds that are moldy and put a few drops of H2O2 on 'em (Hydrogen Peroxide) to kill the mold. They might be hosed though.

in the future, you can make a real week bleach and water solution and give the seeds a quick dip before trying to germ them. This will help kill off whatever is on them. The paper towels will still be full of dust and spores though, but at least you eliminate one variable.

I tend to add a little drop of bleach to my germ solution and then to my wet towels. it really helped my success rate.
