Seedling Roots Growing Upwards.

Hey friends.

So id like to say I'm a pretty proficient grower after ten years of experience. But in my last few seed batches from nirvana, gorilla, and herbies(all 100% germ) I have had three seeds ive planted so far that have sprouted upside down even when they were planted correctly. I've managed to dig them up and right them without any deaths but its concerning and slightly funny to walk in and see your sprouts taproot sticking out of the soil instead of the cotelydons. Is this maybe because I'm planting too shallow? I drop seeds that are germed with a 1cm taproot into 1cm deep holes with a bit of experimentation. This seems to be happening randomly though. Any ideas? I can say this does show my how tough and vigorous these plants are. Nature... and PS sorry no pics I didn't have time to get the camera.

Never heard of that before, been planting seed for over 30 years and have never seen anything like that, I would love to see some pictures of that, very interesting.
Wonder what happened, I am and would love to hear from someone that this has happened to.
Post em up people,

I def will I forgot to snap a pic this time but its really funny. Its a testament to how strong they are that I can dig them out, and replant them without damage. But I believe it may be the fact that I had dug into the soil once to make sure the runtd germinated?

It may be that your medium is too wet. Roots need o2 just as much as they need h20. The tap root may be looking for a breath of fresh air if the medium is starved of o2.

It happen with me twice..

One i could correct the tap root and the plant made it, the other one was too late the root was exposed for along time and the plant didnt make it..

I look to it like that... its the most crucial time for starting a new life and that goes on every living thing from humans till animal and even plants the risk of something go wrong is high during giving birth lool ;)
