No, they're tougher than you think...just dont gouge them with the tweezers and make sure you're holding the other leaf with ur fingers to offset the lateral force you will apply
Great thanks much appreciated should I mist it first?

You can also just leave it like that, it won't make any difference.
If you wanna remove it, soak the seed shell with some water first, it will rehydrate the membrane underneath and it will come loose easier. You can do this with a wet earcotton. Always be careful that you don't rip out the entire seedling or rip it apart.

It will drop off on its own just fine. The seed i started late march this year was like this, i think i plucked it off with tweezers when it looked like this and now it's an 18 inch tall big mama so she turned out fine.

How long should it take to drop off the shell came off a couple of days ago although the plant looks healthy it hasn't grown taller in a couple of days either, I'm slightly worried about the blackish mark on the cotyledon?

If it isn't coming off and you don't feel like waiting i'd just be very careful and pluck it off, that's what I did. My seedling looked a little weird and took awhile to spring up too, thought it was a dud but got a pleasant surprise. They're pretty delicate in this stage of life. But I'm a noob so what do I know. Just sharing my xperience

ive been having problems with old seeds , i think , alot were not dropping off , so i found a set of pliers , rolled some electricians tape around one side of head , closer to fulcrum point , stopped at about one eight small inch gap , and was able to crunch shell few times without crunching all the way and damaging inside the shell . i pulled shell off immediately after plier treatment as the shell had been on for4 days and it looked like she was getting weak as i would too if i had a watermelon stuck on my head for 4 days . it worked great as i had been misting from the git go with no luck
