seedlings drama

Hey guys,
This is my first grow for about 12 years. I have decided to start growing again.
I finaly got everything I needed and I purchased some seeds. But first I decided to do a test run on some bag seeds, This went (suprisingly) well, so I thought i would continue them and use them as my guinee pigs.

So now I sprout some of my new seeds the same way as my test. 14 out of 15 sprouted after two days. It's now two days after surfacing, and everything was looking good when suddenly they start dropping one by one  I have lost four so far and another one is showing signs

Temp is and has been good, no nutes yet, watered with ro water, they are about 14" under a 400w hps light, they are in a mix of 50 coco/30perlite/20verm/

They look healthy and green but seem to suddenly get a soft stem half way up, and then completly collapse an hour or two later.

my seeds are white widow, OG kush, and Lemon skunk, I only want to end up with 6 but i am getting worried. I have seperated them and am trying different things to each of them to see if I can work out whats going on.

Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

thanks, I pulled my light up a bit more. I havnt feed any nutes only water. They are fairly dry now
somthing has seemed to help (touch wood) I lost 5 in quick time, it's been a few hours and the survivours seem un-harmed, Im just worried about this spreeding.

And I thought I had it all figured lol, now I remember why I loved growing so much.

If I get past tonight I will start a journal, looks like I will need the help :)

i usually keep my seedlings at least 30" below my HID if that's what i have to use

but that girl definitely got cooked. 14" is about as close as a fully mature plant can get to it before it feels the heat

The survivours seem to be going ok so far today.
I think I got fooled into putting my light too close as im using a "super spreader" under my globe and the marketing tells you that you can go close to your plants.

fingers crossed this problem is resolved, I am relying on this to work as I need some for medical use for a family member diagnosed with pancreatic cancer :( im hoping to help with his nuasia, pain and his appetite.
sadly time is not on my side.

thanks for the help :)

seedlings just can't use that much light. there's a reason they grow just as fast under a t5

good luck, happy growing

and have started a few more seees just in case.
