You have a pic? So much easier to tell. While it is kinda inefficient to grow under a HPS it is do-able. HO T5 or CFL will give a more efficient result.

shouldn't use HPS to veg..... use MH or 6500k Floresents....

these guys have no clue what they are talking about HPS WORKS GREAT MH WORKS BETTER...........if they knew what they were talking about they would have told you that those seedlings are way to young to be under HPS or MH lights put them under a cfl till they start growing the true leaves then put them under the hps light

If I may add a little of my experience....the only time I have had a problem with seedlings stretching is when i left them under a t5 for way way too long they ended up stretching out tall and when i put them under the 600watt MH they all sprouted huge fan leaves and toppled over. i used some wooden bbq skewers to stand them up and eventually the stalks grew big enough to support the foliage.

I am curious if you actually read what I posted? I said it is inefficient.. That means If
you take electricity into account compared to a lower wattage t5 or cfl it's more efficient and ultimately will increase your bottom line. Any HID is going to be ok because of the intensity of the light. Don't come on here talking shit because you have a lack of comprehension understanding what something means please.

Those do not look like they are stretching as lowrider did say and I said previously those would be better under a cfl or t5 until they get a bit older. You can stack some soil around the base of the stem to straighten them up that will help with them leaning.

a 400w should be between 6-21" away from the tops of the plants, keep it at 21" for the first couple of days and lower it a few inches every day or two til the plants show you that it's too close, then back off just a bit and that will be the perfect distance for your plants.
