Although i usually dont have this issue stalling before just starting them in the pots they finish in
I would still put them into solo cups and keep them there until the plant is twice as tall as the cup alone. If using a 5-inch solo cup let the plant get 9-10 inches tall the TP into final pot, probably a 3-gallon pot???These aee autos so i was advised against transplanting. Maybe starting in rockwool cube rather then right into the medium ?
Do a side by side. The one started in the big pot will outgrow the ones in solo cups. I regularly start straight to 5-7 gallon pots.Put them into solo cups when they first go into dirt. You are wasting weeks waiting for the plant to grow roots out to the inside of the pot. Plants need to support themselves by building a rootball. By using huge pots right off the bat the plant will spend a lot of extra time growing more roots than necessary.
Good luck, BigSteve.
exactly that's what i thought .. I've started many seeds straight in the big pot, i think they seem like it better growing up in the same environment not being re potted and diff lights etc etcDo a side by side. Its a seed that grows in the ground. What is the ground but a big pot.
But yes. Starting in larger pots they will spend extra time building roots. Remeber though. The bigger the roots the bigger the fruits.
