Seedlings Not Growing

idk what your problem is tho but thats one ghetto as setup....you may just not have the green thumb man...ill give you an outline and you can find what you messed up....seedlings in dirt KEEP DIRT MOIST until seedling is about 3 inches then start the routine of watering and allowing the soil to dry on the top couple inches before watering again..lights should always be about 2-6 inches from plants so as to stop stretching...continue this without doing anything else until the plant is about 6-8 inches which you can then start training or top if you like...at about 8-10 inches you will need to start feeding...use something like technaflora recipe for success or the go box from general organics as both of these come with a cant f it up feeding chart..you feed once a week watering possibly twice or so depending on pot size and heat which will determine how fast your dirt dries...after the plant is of a good size 2ft or so you switch to 12/12 and to the flowering nutes and continue what you were already doing....this is a no fail plan ya theirs plenty more you can learn to increase yield and whatnot but follow these steps and you cant fail....if you do stick to buying your pot

If your talking about my setup, yes it is ghetto as fuck, but I dont really give a shit, because why would I spend money when I am just going to stick them outside when I feel they are ready to survive the heat.
Sorry I am not a rich ass guy like you man. You know that song, I need a dollar, a dollar is what I need. That song is about me man, and I sang it. Also if you are talking about me I dont have any problems with growing my seedlings and if you are talking about the other guys setup and saying it is ghetto, HAHAHA look at mine!

Who cares if the setup is ghetto, as long as it gets the job done. My setup consists of nothing more than 3 t8 ballasts, and 3 cfl ballasts in a closet with 2 sliding doors painted white on the inside with panda plastic and a small fan to move air around. I can grow 4-6 decent sized plants in there no problem.

lol no i was talking about the guy who made the thread and my reason for saying that wasnt because a ghetto setup cant produce just saying since he has a ghetto setup and cant get seedlings to grow it leads me to believe he may just not be in the right hobby :D ....trust me im a broke ass too but with little money you can make a nice setup all about how you plan it out...tin foil on the walls and a light plugged directly into a power strip is just a litttttle too ghetto imo not gonna yield alot....now if your just vegging to go outside different story but i assumed hes going with an indoor grow...

you underwatered...seedlings must be kept wet!!!
Nice speculative post. I watered when needed, based on container weight and "finger test". No, raising the lights on the seedlings fixed my problems. 2-3" is fine on older plants but can be too much on seedlings. Too little light can be fixed, too much less so.

lol regardless of what any of you say, my setup is the most ghetto. It consist of a jenga game set, 5 world atlases, 1 peter pan DVD, 1 wedding crashers dvd, 2 cfl lights, plus an aquarium light.

What Kermit said is true, and I am the proof. My setup cost about 25 dollars and consists on random ass things I found laying in my house. My seedlings usually sprout within seven days and take on their sixth leaf set by week 1. After week one I put these bitches outside and they take off.

Now lets not give all the credit to my ghetto ass setup. The reason my plants are so f**king sexy is because of the reason I use all Fox Farm soil, including their full line of nutrients.

hey i used the box my ballast came in to prop my seedlings up high enough to my light so didnt mean it like that lol..we are just maguyver growers some cant pull it off tho lol..thats the best tho a jenga set, hope noone gets jenga ;)

You can be Macguyver I wanna be Macgroober from SNL, because he always dies lol.

and if all my plants ever fall and my lights fall because of that game, I will be sure to yell JENGA! hahahah

The jenga set is the 2nd key piece. the first is the card board held by staples in the wall and held to the other end with staple in the ceiling using the wire from old CD headphones ahaha. The lights are held by the card board and if the card board breaks the jenga box is the next key piece.

Well under an inch is too close. 1.5 inches, LIKE I SAID HOW I HAVE IT! is perfect.

And when i say what people are saying is bullshit, I mean they are saying stuff that they may have witnessed in their life, but what they dont know is it could have been a multitude of different problems. I am telling you, from what I have read and what I have experienced, if you do everything perfect, then you can keep your CFL lights anywhere around 1.5-3 inches away with no problems at all.

If your referring to me, sprouts leaves are usually either green or emerald green (World of Warcraft Emerald green, if you know what I am saying ahahaha)

i know this post is old but dont listen to this guy, hes an idiot. look at his grow lol. looks like some frankenstein monster. im a commercial grower and dont use cfls but i could tell right off the bat your seedlings were to close. if you listen to this guy he would tell you to put the seedling in the between the actual coils of the cfl lol
