Seedlings/Veg Box! Advice Needed (Pictures)

I made this grow box for my seedlings to start in and maybe go into veg in.
I have a 400watt MH/HPS in my grow room with 2 plants flowering now so when they finish ill put the plants ready for veg in.
I might have to put a small fan on the bottom left of the box to get good air flow and keep the temp down

What do you guys think?

love the wood armoire box! looks good, but I would either install another shelf (top) for seedlings & be prepared to use something to elevate them. U will want to keep them under 2" from ur cfls at all times if u can for best grow, tight internodes, etc.

I was going to use books to raise the pots closer to the lights

whatever works, funny enough I have done that before myself (books)

Your airflow should go up, because heat rises. You'll be pushing hot air downwards into the grow box.

Theres a hole leading out of the box so ill put 2 computer fans blowing down and out of the box.
One over the bottom hole and one on the shelf hole

Any advice on this book?

4th edition, hmm. I have the 2nd edition, it is still second best (although very good) to Marijuana Horticulture The indoor/outdoor medical growers bible, imo. These r the only 2 books on the market worth a darn imo...or at least I have had the pleasure reading.

I started 3 seeds
2 are under a 27 watt Daytime CFLs 5500k
1 under a 23 watt Soft White CFL 2300k
The seeds under the 2300k started to sprout the same day I planted it
Is it normal for a lower color temp to have a better effect on seedlings?

Im going to start watering with nutes after the 1st set of leafs yellow and die off.
Ive been watering when the top of the soil gets dry, I water till I see a little run off. Usually once a day for the seedlings.

thoughts thats what you ewre trying to do, just making sure
nice box mate love it but is the bottom shelf useless? if the lights are on the top and the top shelf is blocking the light from penetrating down?
what you gonna use it for, only cusious cos i need one of these myself

I only need it for the seeds right now, but when they go into Veg im going to move them down to the bottom and make another self with lights so theirs a Seedling and a Veg spot.
Or I might take the self out when they go into Veg and and more Y sockets and put 12 CFLs and raise the plants with books.

The temp seems to stay pretty high, 90 - 95 in the day and like 80 at night.
I want to install another small fan to help with the air flow.
Right now theirs 1 small fan blowing air from the top shelf to the bottom and I want to add one taking that air out if the box.

I used string to LST Seed 1
I also spliced a computer fan that is surprisingly powerful

Im using the new fan to blow air down into the lower half, then I have my smaller 80mm fan blowing air out of the box into the room
The mid day temp is now around 85ish, Im going to check every few hours today to make sure it doesn't reach 90

I keep that wood shelf with tape in front of the opening to reflect light then close the whole slider.

Any other suggestions?

I set up a duct so that hot air can be blown out or clean air can be brought in.
I'm not sure witch way will be more effective?
Should I run air up or down the duct?

Seeds 2 & 3 have been growing really slow! Almost no growth at all.
I noticed since I stopped watering till run off they have basically stunted.
I watered till run off last night and they have started growing again.
I think it was a mix of heat stress and not having enough water.
Seed 3s leafs turned dark green, maybe a sign of not enough water.
What do you think?

get rid of the 5500k bulbs and get 6500k bulbs for the right light color needed for veg.

Ive got 2 x 27watt Day Time 5000k CFLs
and a 23 watt Soft White 2700k CFL

I couldnt find anyother color temps then that in stores

They seem a little small for day 8

Any advice guys?
