An hermaphrodite, or hermie, is a Marijuana plant of one sex that develops the sexual organs of the other sex. Most commonly, a flowering female Marijuana plant will develop staminate flowers, though the reverse is also true. Primarily male hermaphrodites are not as well recognized only because few growers let their males reach a point of flowering where the pistillate would be expressed.
Hermaphrodites are generally viewed with disfavor. First, they will release pollen and ruin a sinsemelia crop, pollinating themselves and all of the other females in the room. Second, the resulting seeds are worthless, because hermaphrodite parents tend to pass on the tendency to their offspring.
Please note that occassionally specious staminate flowers will appear in the last days of flowering of a female Marijuana plant. These do not drop pollen and their appearance is not considered evidence of deleterious hermaphroditism.

It is possible only one plant developed male staminate flowers and pollinated itself.
yea worst part about it, it was the best palnt about 15 inches tall and half theshaft was a solid bud about as big around as a soda can.... it is dring now and is lime green and white and smells like pine sap.... does anyone know about how much thc % i might have lost because of the seeds?....

Sometimes that just happens. All it takes is ONE male part on your plant. Females sometimes grow "bananas". These USUALLY don't contain viable pollen. You can get the occasional seed from time to time though. I wouldnt consider it sinsemilla, but I also wouldnt consider it a hermie.
absolutly 100% true. + rep. i was arguing with some people on this subject. i would kep the seeds. just be careful during flower with them. watch out for hermie traits eary on.

Female plants will produce seeds late in the year to make sure they live on, regardless of if a male plant impregnates or not. Its a defense mechanism.
that is bullshit!!! the only way a female can produce seeds is to grow MALE flowers and pollonate itself. in which would produce fem or herm seeds. a female CAN NOT produce seeds unless pollen is present.

There is some truth to it:
From what I've seen and understand, Most strains (even under optimal conditions), If left to flower too long, can and will herm as they die off.
The resulting seeds are most likely all hermie to ensure survival of the offspring.
This however, should only happen if you for some reason left your plants in the bud room wayyy too long.

Is it the male pollen that carries the hermi trait ?
If another female is pollenated with the pollen from a female plants male flower will it be hermi trend or female ?

wow, didnt i jus see your post somewhere else? backin up someone about this same info? hmmm it seems you didnt know what you were talkin about. why would you come here askin about the same thing you were jus arguing about. it depends on how the female pollonated itself.. if it was a female that was left too long and grew one or two male flowers then id keep the seeds cuz they'll be fem seeds. HOWEVER you should still watch for hermie traits as with all fem seeds due to the way they were bred. if its a strait hermy then rip it out and discard it asap

wow this cmart guy is retarded. When i buy feminized seeds i dont sometimes get hermies. I only get females. By you saying sometimes the seeds wil be fem and sometimes hermy, you just bashed yourself because HERMY seeds do that, thus making the seeds not feminized. Get your facts right.
