Self Reflecting Bulbs

Hello All,

Has anyone ever used HPS bulbs that have a reflective coating on 1 half of it, negating the need for a reflector hood?

I found one on eBay and I am tempted to buy 2 of them, 400w each, for a grow box I am designing, so that I can grow about 8 to 10 plants. I also intend on putting them inside a DIY glass cooltube.

Any opinions are appreciated!

i would think theres an advantage with self reflecting bulbs when useing cool tubes.
(no need for reflector hood)
never used them myself tho

not heard of these, interesting though. Wouldn't a reflector reflect the light over a larger area?

Hey guys,

I just found another strange bulb from the same eBay store, it is a 400W Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium in 1 bulb. Check it out.

I intend on buying one eventually and testing it out to see how well it works, try a full grow with it. Any of you seen a bulb like this before?
