ok no prob man. do your thing. it looks like ill need to make a trip to the hardware store. i dont have wire nuts, 12-2 cable, or any outlets and outlet boxes...when you say outlets, do you mean ones that are currently in the wall, or am i going to need to buy new outlets at lowes? also, what is a plastic outlet box? is this something you just wire new outlets to so i wont have to cut any holes in my wall?? i really dont think i would be able to modify the wall in any way...

The plastic outlet boxes can be mounted outside the wall or just free floating. The Outlets themselves are sold raw at lowes. All that stuff is at your local hardware. I also do electrical:)

what sucks about this is your breaker box is conceald behind the wall so your gonna have to leave your cover off and have the romex cable exposed across the floor of your crib to your grow area...as long as you have no kids or animals that could chew through the cable... you'll be allright.. might really piss the wife off though...lol

ok.... here we go... have the Mrs. hold the flashlight.... shut every breaker off in the box... find the cable that runs the 20 amp micro and disconnect the black(hot) wire from the breaker and the white (neutral) wire from the neutral bar.. thats the bar with all the white wires under the screws... put a wire nut on the white and black wires idividually and tuck them away on the side of the box...

now take your new cable and strip about a foot of the outter yellow insulation off... be careful not to cut or knick the black or white wires... cut back the black wire to your desired length ...(since its a short run, the black wire wont be long)...strip about a 1/4 inch of insulation off the black wire and hook it to the 20 amp micro breaker....
take the white wire and hook it up to the neutral bar with all the other white wires... now hook your ground to the ground bar( the bar with the bare copper wires)...
make sure your connections are tight...
turn on all the breakers EXCEPT for the 20 amp micro breaker...
thats it for the breaker box work...

now run your cable to your grow room...
once at a location you want an outlet...
cut the romex off,,,,
take and strip about 6 inches off of the yellow outter insulation..
strip about a 1/2 inch off of the black and white wires....
bust out a tab on the top and bottom of the plastic outlet box
stick the cable into the box...
take a pair of needle nose pliers and make a hook on the b and w wires...

now VERY IMPORTANT.......
take the BLACK wire and put the hook around the GOLD screw...
take the WHITE wire and put the hook around the SIVER screw....
tighten the screws .... for the grounds you will have to pigtail (splice) them together...
cut a few pieces of ground wire about 6 in. long.....
take the ground wires coming in and out of your first outlet and twist it together with one of the 6 inch pieces of wire you cut useing a pair of pliers...
put a wire nut on your 3 twisted wires and connect the other end of the 6 inch cut piece to the outlet..
and so on and so on...

now take the other piece of romex and connect it the same exact way as the top to the bottom screws bringing your cable up into the plastic box through the other tab...

and again the same way at the next outlet and so on..... If you want, wrap electrical tape around the outlet where your wires connect... that will keep you from getting zapped if your figer gets in there..lol...
screw the outlet into the plastic box...

Now go over and turn on your new dedicated grow 20 amp micro circuit...

make sure none of the insulation is under any of the screws at connection to outlet or in the breaker box...

dont touch the main line coming into you box as it will still be LIVE...

and thats it bro...

if you follow these directions , and take them one step at a time...you'll be all good... good luck..bongsmilie

damn, i took to long to type that... im high as hell....lol... outlets out of the wall man... you will need new ones..since you rent and cant put them in the wall... the way I explain above they will just lay on the floor..
you can hook up just one or up to 6 or 7 outlets...

the plastic outlet boxes are to put the oulets in...there usually blue...

youll find them... im gonna go crash...Ill check back in the morn...gl

FUUUCK!!! that was a bitch, but i learned SOO MUCH. i am no longer afraid of opening a breaker box. those things used to be the scariest things in the house to me. the breaker that i initially told you was running nothing was apparently connected to the washer and dryer out back! so that was a no go. however, i used Captain's EXCELLENT tutorial to "break" my "breaker cherry" (no pun intended:-P) and instead i used the 20 amp breaker that was dedicated to the dishwasher to power my new "dedicated grow outlet"!! i damn near almost killed myself, when i crossed the white and black lines accidentally. a huge spark of electricity ignited withing a few inches of my hand. at that point the wife started crying histerically, and started yelling about how much she hated me growing weed, and that she didnt want me to die and stuff, and that im all she has. pretty ruff on her to see me make that really carless mistake. after that i started paying more attention and after a few hitches its all done and wired now. i feel so good when i do a good project and learn so much at the same time! now i KNOW i wont have any current issues anymore! thanks again SomeGuy and especially Captain!!

cut back on the lights , either get a weaker light to replace the 1000w bulb or stop using one of the weaker lights

no need anymore. in fact, i might get another light ( i think a 600 or even a 1000 would do nicely!) if the wife doesnt chop my dick off. now i learned how to wire as much shit as i want!!
