Setting up a new room 7`x14`

It comes down to airation. The water holds more dissolved Oxygen (DO) when it's below 70 degrees. Since the roots in a DWC are submerged constantly they only get oxygen if the water can hold it. So to prevent root rot people running DWC try to maintain lower temps to allow them to better oxygenate the water. In a system where some air gets to the roots between waterings/feedings you don't need to be as concerned with the water temps. In soil, overwatering is not the use of a lot of water and getting runoff, it is watering too often, not allowing the soil to dry out thus not allowing the roots to get oxygen between waterings.
Ok perfect, you made that real easy to understand.

So is there a high temp point where it becomes a concern? I been checking water temp since first day i started growing, always thought it was so crucial to keep temps around 69-70 lol...i must have read it somewhere back when i started researching but still had no clue what i was actually reading. That wasn't that long ago it seems lol

Thanks bud

Well 70 is where the DO levels plateau below that the cooler the water gets the more dissolved oxygen it can hold. There is a balance as roots that are below 65 degrees can start to have uptake problems, commonly phosphorous, causing slowed growth.

If you are top feeding and allowing oxygen between feedings then it's not so critical. With a medium such as coco there is a lot of space for oxygen so you can feed more frequently than in soil. If the plants are droopy like from over watering it indicates not enough oxygen at the roots.

Also if you use that bypass valve to regulate pressure you can use it to do some waterfall action in the res, just have it dump away from the pump so the air bubbles don't cause cavitation.

Maybe like this? have the teed line run to the opposite end of the res, away from pump?
the solid black like reps the bypass valve and line

exactly what I had envisioned. put a valve on that and you can allow some water to bypass if the pressure is too high. If you close off plant sites as you harvest and such you can bypass more pressure. They make those reducing tees where the side output is a size smaller, one of those might be perfect, then you can use a smaller size cheaper valve for the bypass probably allowing for finer tuning.

Transformer blew up in my community, power gone everywhere , could take up to 2-3 days before fully restored

I'm on way to next town over to get 30 gallons of gas for my generator

The show must go on lol

Wow, 2-3 days. Thats a real bummer man. Nice to have those LED's now huh?
Ya def bummed, hoping it's back sooner than that. They always give us worse case scenario. So with any luck it be back again soon lol

Ya pretty glad to be rocking the leds right now for sure lol

So I might have to get my sparky bro to upgrade a couple breakers for me or something.
Well if you have him run another feed, likely the solution since you can't put a larger breaker on existing #14 wiring, you should have the feed run with #12 wire and a 20 amp breaker. That will give a few more amps on that feed than you would get on a 15 amp feed. 20 amp feeds are commonly used in kitchens and bathrooms due to the higher loads encountered. The receptacles on that feed should be 20 amp rated.

Ya this is what I'll prob do, just run a 20a feed and breaker. I shouldn't need much more than that in the room.

Power is finally back.

Nice job! Tight squeeze but you got all the big stuff in there already. Now to make a secret latch for it. You seen those magnetic ones? Where you slide a magnet on a spot to release the latch behind the wood?

I like those that you linked. When I build my garage and my final grow space I'll be sure to look at those again

Might break ground soon on garage. Still a bit undecided but it looks like we might just go ahead now rather then wait

Mine dont. They are green led though. I work in my dark rooms all the time with a green LED headlamp.

Ok I assume the Saturn 5 is using green leds too? Would be dumb if they used lights that would harm 12/12 wouldn't it? Lol

I'm enjoying the room. Everything seems pretty dialed in and running nicely.

Only complaint is the lights. I hung them in a way that makes it very difficult to raise and lower them. They are big fixtures and I can barely reach the ratchet straps on the back

I've been thinking of a few different ways to do things. I built this room for comfort, this light situation don't help that at all lol
