Me and another grower had a difference of opinion that I would like the consensus on. In a sealed room do you need to pull in fresh air if you are using C02? I have been running a sealed room where I only vent fresh air when the lights are off to keep RH down. When the lights are on I keep the air moving but no fresh air. Granted its not truly air tight. My buddy asserted that plants exhaust waste that are harmful to them and this would harm the plants in a sealed room regardless of C02. He doesn't run C02 so he brings in continuous fresh air (as he should).

So who is correct? If my buddy is correct is my dark cycle venting sufficient (I don't pull fresh air from outside at all - just from another room)? I have no problems with my results so I'm not going to change my setup but I would like to have good info for future builds.

Thanks

The "air in the other room" is still fresh air.

thank free - I know its "fresh" - I was just giving too much detail. I don't pull in any air while the C02 is running and the lights are on.

What I'm really asking is theoretically given a perfectly sealed room, no fresh air and C02 enrichment - will this be detrimental to the plants?

No. A sealed room is sealed.

The "fresh" air is only needed to replace CO2. If you are providing the CO2, there is no need.

The intake can also be used to cool, and provide circulation but these can be handled in a sealed room without drawing air directly into the room.

I believe that the purpose of introducing "fresh" air is actually to exhaust the now oxygen rich air out of the room. The goal would be to move just enough air to allow for a complete exchange, anything else would be wasteful. Once the air is exchanged then is the time for introduction of CO2 as the purpose is to raise CO2 in PPM and starting with atmospheric (outside) air gives you a starting point of nearly 400 PPM. Hope this helps settle the bet, Larry :weed:

The Plants Give off Oxygen And Can SmotheR Thenm Without Exhaust. But With The Carbon Dioxide You Wouldnt Have That Problems Since There Is Constantly New C02 Getting Pumped In which they use too ''breathe''

I knew the community would support me - humble pie has been served. He still doesn't believe me. You can lead a horse to water...
