Sf vs hlg

So basically I'm trying to get the defining factors for hlg over sf besides who made it first as the diodes and driver seem to be the same thats all folks
So HLG came first, got top bin diodes, tested the light, sent out lights for others to test, paid for third part authentication testing ect, marketed, blah blah...

Then the other companies jumped on the band wagon ( to be expected)

SF been one of them, they will follow the latest trends because they are not daft enough to ignore them. But no third party testing, no top bin diodes, the figures the use to sell the lights are not proven.

One company is American, providing jobs in the US which costs more therefore to manufacture

The other is Chinese , provides jobs for Chinese at a far lower cost.

HLG is a small company , SF is a big one.

HLG was born of this forum from two guys who had there own LED businesses. So that counts on here for a lot. Plus they are still members here and can be reached very easily on the phone, private message or email.

That's about as straight forward and least snarky as I can say it.

I appreciate your response thank you

There are lists and then there are lists ... this one happens to be on a vendors website and is referring to the brands of lights THAT THEY CARRY that are made in the US. Caveat emptor.

What does a grow have to do with being civil to others there's no need to wig out because I questioned the difference in 2 lights 1 being the fan favorite here obviously.
You were told HLG is US made, but you continued to insist they are made in China.
It's simple, we get irritated when people come here and argue with the very people they are asking for advice, it happens routinely.

They were made in china. I just read it from one of the founders I guess, but they were and now they make them here which is great but I need information not ppl getting personal i need actual info as nd only one person really helped everybody else acted like nut jobs, I don't particularly care about ppl getting silly on the internet but when I'm looking for info thats all I want not the personal shit

IMO the boards that are using 3rd party diodes (osram) are made in USA or China

boards using only samsung diodes are made in south korea by samsung, inlc diablo. samsung wont pay to use 3rd party parts.
the orignal drivers were made in china but the quility was all over the place killing some lights. so they moved production to taiwan (its not china FYI)

as for the difference between HLG/Spiderfarmer is R&D / diode placement / pcb layout etc, yes both compines are using partly the same diodes but efficiency(lm/w)/longevity(voltage) (binning) is important, people using lights with epistars will notice a little decrease in light before someing using cree/osram.

SF seen that some peoples lights were been killed by humidity so added coating, thus trapping heat reducing total life. it wont die from a humidifyer but it will die faster overall,

HLG was the first kid on the block. The rest are just copies

my guess anyways
This is part of it and led diodes have different bins if you look at the data sheep the output can vary alot within the same type of diode hlg is supposed to have the best bins

I see soo many ppl advocating hlg quantum boards and I'm wondering why they are being chosen over sf quantum boards. They use the same driver and leds plus have uv better spectrum water proof and cheaper....can anyone explain this
It's because every Chinese factory is rolling out Quantum Boards at rock bottom prices.
I've got two different Chinese knock-off QBs ($160 inc drivers), and they both work fine ...... but for how long?
