Is 5 weeks to short for veg a plant.
Its about a 1 foot 4 inch tall.

it matters how much you wont to produce.
that sounds good for a half of a oz if the plant is healthy and not thin.
it also has a good bit to do with the lights that you use for flowering/vegg.
how big do you wont the plant to get ?
what are you growing in?
what kind of light are you using?
how much do you wont to produce?
if you wont a good production from the plant but you wont it small i would look in to the scrog(screen of green) .

Will be flowing with 400 hps.
I am using flows for veging.
I want to produce at least 2 ounce per plant but i dont want the plant to be over 2 and a half or 3 feet tall.
my last grow i got about 2 1/2 ounces per plant but i vegged them like 2 and half months.

If you're gonna use a 400 watter, I would let them get to the three feet you mentioned. You would get maximum yield that way.

So they are tall enough to produce 2 ounce per plant if they are 1foot 4 inches when i start to flower?

If height isn't an issue, you just answered you're own question. There has to be a max height you can go if you're inside.

hell, with that kind of light, I would let 'em get as tall as possible. All the way to max safe distance from the lights mounted as high as they will go, with a few more inches just for safety.

There are alot of variables: nutes, atmosphere, strain, all that stuff. Perhaps a more experienced member could make the judgement call with that kind of info.

As long as you want, really. If you give it the right nutrition and 24hr lighting, it will veg forever, technically. It's all based on your space and/or lighting and time constraints. My first grow was clones given to me by an old friend from Kentucky. I only grew mine to 3 feet because I was using cfl's and that was as far as the light would go down into them. Even then, there were only little buds near the bottom. The point is, I was there when he cut the clones, and that plant was outside in a valley and it was literally 12 or so feet tall. I forced mine to flower at 3 feet because any taller would have been inefficient. With two 600w lights, though, you should be able to veg them as tall as you're room will allow, then go into flowering and produce some HONKIN' buds.

indoors you can veg for as long as you want,,,,the bigger the plant the more it'll yeild,youve got to think about width too coz it'll get bushy,,,especially indica strains,,sativa strains grow very tall,,,when you change to 12/12 a plant can grow 1-4x its size,,,the shortest time recommended is 4weeks but sometime ppl go straight to 12/12 from seedling,,,,,,basically the bigger the plant is before you change to 12/12 the more it should yield.
