A bagseed from a couple years ago, still working through old tubs of 5-12-26 and calcium nitrate. I'll never use liquid nutes again. This time I'm gonna try the 12-4-16 during veg, I like to use hydrobuddy to dial it in.

Only thing I don’t like is not being able to add more calcium without nitrogen. Next run I’ll be switching out the calcium nitrate with a different brand cal nit that has a higher calcium to nitrogen ratio. I’ll also be using a additional calcium supplement for some of the strains that need loads of calcium. I think with these 2 products I’ll be able to perfectly dial in what I’m trying to do

Are you lowering ec by week 7? I know some guys that run 3.6 2.5 all the way till harvest. I tried it but the n tox is really noticeable
I think the strength may need be adjusted if you aren’t running really powerful lights. In my flower room I’m running multiple DE lights so they seemed to consume everything I was giving them. If I was in a tent with lower wattage lights , I’d probably back off to 321 exactly and see how that did.

I'm also using des. Just working on dialing in the end of the cycle

It could be strain dependent but there’s no denying that you don’t need that much N towards the end of flower IMO. That’s the only thing I don’t like. I think switching to a low N calcium product towards the end could maybe be a good way to get the results we are after.
Im still playing around with it myself and wish I had better answers. I’m currently debating on how to proceed next. I’m considering using jacks through week 3 or 4 of flower and then switching to a fully organic product but I know that may not be the answer for everyone.

That's why I like just mixing my own, I can get plenty of calcium from only using calcium nitrate as my nitrogen source..

I'm looking into the exact same thing. Trying to find a way, or the right product, to be able to reduce calcium nitrate (yara calcinit), but add back the calcium lost in doing so - and without adding anything else undesirable (chlorine etc.)
Have you considered the other calcium forms and found them to be no good (for various reasons, eg: not water soluble or no good for anything other than soil type medium, useless or harmful secondary element)?
Eg: Calcium sulfate (gypsum, right?), calcium chloride (used as road salt, I think), etc. Kelp4Less have a calcium sulfate they say is soluble...I don't know about that.
I was thinking about Calcium Peroxide though, CaO2 I think.

I also settled on Potassium Sulfate as a means of adding additional Potassium with no drawbacks. The sulfur is beneficial, and from what I can find, it's hard to get a sulfur toxicity - with this particular crop at least.

Thanks for those link, too. The Haifa Cal Prime; so it's 33% CaO, and 23% Ca, yet 17% N.
Is that much better than typical CalNit at 19% Ca, and 15.5% N?
