Single cxa3070/vero29

So IV got a 2x2 box roughly,would a single cxa3070 or vero29 do well in it or should I use 2?
 
I would say you will want at least 2. more like 3 or 4 unless you are only vegging them in the 2x2. One would only be 50 watts for 4 square feet. My space is 28x18 and i have 200 watts of LED .

For some reason these are what iv been leaning to rather than the cxa3070s

Just wanted to keep it as simple as possible
I have read about bleaching though at close range and could do with abit of headroom

May have to build a box and start from there

You may be better off driving those two Vero's at 2100 ma.

Just my thoughts here, but for the price you may consider getting four CXA2530's off fasttech with four 30w drivers. I'm waiting for a few to arrive myself for a water cooling experiment.

The only problem with this approach? It's a bit of a crap shoot. See they're listed as 4500K with no bin or CRI rating :P. So I have no idea what I'm getting. But it sure is cheap.

Yeah, could be bottom bin, 93 cri, ect ect. The flip side of that is that it could be top bin as well. I have 3500k and 4000k CXB emitters to compare the appearance of the LES, but that's about the best I've got. Cree doesn't put any identifying marks on the chips aside from the series.

I just plan on torture testing them though:fire:

Have you had any experience with those low end drivers as far as real lifespan expectancy?

I've not ran any one setup long enough honestly. In all reality though, even if a driver 'only' lasts 10k hours, that's 2.3 years worth of 12/12 cycles for a few bucks. Even if a few end up being duds, the redundancy of the other drivers will cover you until you spot the issue. So long as the driver isn't subjected to extreme conditions/temps I'd put rated lifespan pretty low on the list of concerns. If you facilitate some sort of airflow over the drivers I'd put it at the bottom.

I'll be using gelid GC extreme thermal paste and screwing them directly once I've tapped some holes in
