Hey Jela, what a gentleman he is eh?! When I saw it, I reckoned to myself 'Oh gods, please let me grow old with even a measure of that grace I see in this man'... Not often that somebody you look up to as an artist ends up inspiring you as a PERSON too! Graceful, confident, impeccably well mannered. I guess he really EARNED the lable of a Rock Aristocrat, in every sense of the word.

Hey man! Definitely looking well! I have a question though, if youd be able to help me out. Im currently ordering a sgs-160 for a flower box, but due to my location its still not on the way, yet: What would be a good height for my growbox? Ive already made a carbon scrubber to conceil my growing, and it looks promising. The measurements from Area 51 for the bottom platform are: an optimal of 60cmx90cm, which is a little more than 0,54m2, which is the sort of platform Im planning to use. Yet, I cant really decide on the height. For a small SoG production, what would be a good height? I'm new to this, but really hope for it to be doable and I like what I see on your photos.

Yeah horible, after seeing more grows popping up on this strain, golf balls is the word...but have faith there brother....I have a little magic in the way of making colas happen. If it can be done with this strain, you'll see some right here, at least a couple.

Ben, make it as high as you possibly can with your given space. You can always put the lights on adjustable hangars...and you'll need the height one day, you'll see...SOG can see some stretchy girls....SCROG is the ticket if you need'em short.

25 days, middle of week 4. Can't believe I'm seeing puff balls lining up in cola formation...maybe they will be ready for PK13/14 in week 5...it will be amazing if they form. As horible mentioned above, golf balls sizes tops are popular with this lanky strain..I'm getting a frosty look took on the upper leaf-sets.

I would say you want at least 1.5m height, but more headroom is always better. I grow in a 60cmx60cmx120cm box with a 400W HPS and it's pretty tight. I'd love to have at least another 30cm and with my cool tube I can get plants closer to the light than you can with that LED.
Look in my journal for some great examples of what LST and topping can do and what not doing it proactively in a small space can do from my last run.

Jel man, theyre looking really nice. I hope Ill be able to use these lights decently. Thanks for the fast response, but Im really into sog due to its consistent yielding opportunities. for my first grow I plan to do four auto sweet tooth, just to get a hang of it. sorry for polluting your nice thread with my own info, hate that myself, but if I make the box a meter high, will it be alright? for a clone that has rooted abd vegged two weeks, they shouldnt grow that much, or would they?

mreduck, thanks to you too. Im looking at this from my cel phone, so Im rather slow ans hadnt seen your message. Ill have a look at it now. With sog im not able to bind the colas down a bit? also looking into rockwool. it would give a few extra cms as well as more practical. Im just afraid to take a bit too big for me to chew

In SOG you cant really tie them down because then you get less plant's in an area which defeats the purpose of SOG. LST is for a shorter bushier plant and a SOG is trying for lots of single cola plants.

would it be completely headless to mix them up a bit? not trim them as much as in normal sog but give a bit more soace between plants and tie them down so they dont get closer than 40cm to the led during the flower time. my girlfriend is having a hard time getting used to the idea of a box twice her size. Im gonna put it on wheels though. when the clones have just entered the flower box, will I be able to cut of a few clones for the next run or would that be too much unwanted stress?

The jedi girls are looking great Jela. I hear great things about DNA and Reserva, my buddy just picked up Kosher Kush, can't wait to try it out. It will be nice to let him get a couple runs in before I give it a go. Those area 51's really have some nice penetration. Have you ever thought of running the led's as side lighting when you use the HPS? Might be overkill but was a thought. Keep it green.

Don't mean to hijack Jela, but ben if your limited in space I would recommend a scrog. Use the hempy bucket method and make some individual screens for your buckets. I recommend hempy because of the results and the fact that you can use much smaller buckets. I normally run a scrog and I am a firm believer in plant training, Jela can attest to that. Got some heavily trained girls in Folgers coffee cans going right now. Peace

ben, the lights being one thing, the cab stye grow seems to be your challenge. You may want to do a search for "Cab" here on RIU. I've seen numerous growers with really clean setups. IF you plan on moving it around, there are some nice and cheap furniture dolly's at Harbor Freight. Just screw them to the the bottom of the cab.

I am now running some LST right next to my SoG, I am now hell-bent on seeing what comes out tops for me. I am very attracted to the idea of LST in a perpetual harvest, it means I can really choose my strongest clones ONLY, at all times, and shoot for perfect uniformity per cycle. Getting the timing just right will take a little practise from my side, but all the LST grows I am looking at yield the same or more than SoG in the same size areas.

I think the biggest overall yield per year I am going to get is to use LST in my perpetual harvest. Time will tell...

damn man, cant find anything on the cab. not much of a genius on the forums. My girlfriend has finally caved in, I can use the closet which is 55x90x120 (21"x35"x47"). Is it still too small for sog? stoneslacker, otherwise Ill read your scrog setup through. seems pretty nice, Id just really love some continuous harvest ^^

I've run big trained plants and SOG and I've found that SOG can offer a slight boost in yield but only about 10-15% and that's running a very tight SOG of like 9 plants per square foot. Is 9x as many plants worth 15% more yield and a small bump in efficiency because you need less light to just keep moms? That's a question we all have to answer for ourselves in the end.

VERY good point about the vegging power needed Mr Duck. I only run HID, only CFL I have is in my clone-box. I am going to have to watch that very closely indeed. Because it did mean that I busted out another old 400w switchable ballast. And another 600 for the flowering too.

I love SoG but I am soooo curious about other ways to get my kicks out of this hobby, guess it is a case of curiosity killing the cat. Hell I've got the gear lying around so might as well see what comes out of it...

If SoG still comes out on top, great stuff! If not, at least I experienced something different for a while too

Doing the calculations for power is going to be a pain, I must remember to go make sure what days the meter gets read at my place and try start right on the month's beginning to keep it simple.

Or you can get a watt meter and figure out exactly what your draw is.
