Snap crackle pop buds???

Hey so picked up some bud, looks pretty good hairs crystals nice shade, smells "fresh" or a little wet like it wasn't cured enough/right. However when I smoke the bud literally sizzles/crackles and you can even see little sparks and crackles. What is that?!? Is it water that's popping out of the bud? Left over fertilizer? Meth? Does meth crackle CRACKle?

But really any idea what is making this?

The smoke is a little harsh but the high is normal as far as I can tell.

wetter weed does crackle.. its the water molecules getting energized and popping out of the clorophylle . . . either that or you have some hella potent bud with lots of crystals... but from what you said it's likely the first one.

I say let it dry out then see... if it does it while it's dry and it doesn't look super crystally than it probably is over-fert like the dude above said....

They used some harsh chemicals in flower and didn't flush. I use organics and never flush, never an issue but if they use chemically originated nutes then it will be all you described.

Bottom line, the MMJ boom has alot of nice looking buds that taste and smoke like shit.. you got some. The ones who know what they are doing never will exhibit those characteristics.

Ahhhh, seems like lately growers in my area have been slacking :/ got some badly cured bud a week or two ago and now this. Far cry from the crystally goodness we are used to.

I'll try to dry it a bit and see if that helps

If it is that wet it may just be packets of moisture making that crackling noise. If it is nutes, your fine to smoke it, it may give you a headache if you smoke too much but it won't kill you or anything.

you should still flush for a week with organics... or atleast use a very light nutrient solution in the last week vs the normal one... even if it's organic it can still build up in a not so tasty way

Is it just snap crackle pop, or does it look like sparks when you hit it? Most likely, beating a dead horse, over ferted.

I chopped down some plant premature, right after fertilizing them. In fact, I fert every time I water.

I dried then cured them properly, and they burned perfect and tasted great without any sparks or harsh taste, even using Miracle Gro and General Hydroponics.

A proper dry/cure regimen is more important than flushing, at least in all my years of growing. And as the buds are gaining a good portion of their weight during the last few weeks, why flush those vital nutes out when it needs them most.

Unless I pH lockup, or overfertilize lockup the soil, I don't flush at all. My weed always tastes good, and burns clean.

It seems ive smoked almost wet bud that burns a little slow and is hard to light but is just about smokeable - no crackling

but if its the crackling going on I am convinced its to do with the flushing because i have had a dry looking and feeling bud which looks like there is moisture locked in it and crackles and smokes harsh - so i think thats to do with overnute or not flushing. Who am I to say I've only ever read or watched ppl grow!

That's how I feel about it. I get wet bud all too often in my area and it just burns shitty. I just got some bud a few weeks ago that looked like I was smoking sparklers, it was crazy. It wasn't very wet though, so I was convinced it had to do with nutes, or shit maybe I was smoking that shit they put the sand/glass on to make it look better? ha

naw man i think its definately to do with nutes, ive also dealt with a lot of contaminated buds and I can tell the difference almost instantly... Best way to tell if its contaminated with some additive is by looking at the residue of the stuff on the stem .. if the stem looks normal the bud should be normal! Sometimes you get this flakey yellowish crap that makes the smoke horrible and tangy on your throat.

Yeah this shit was pretty harsh, which is unfortunate because it would have been some killer ass bud if only the taste was right.

I've been told that dust mites will make crackling noises if they're in the weed. (total guess, based on random things I've read) But the wetness might also be the attributing factor.

well ill be damned, i thought this ONLY happened from mites / bugs

but my shit i grew, i know there are NO bugs and it pops like once or twice in a fresh bonghit, sometimes....

the weed is dried fucking perfect if not a slight bit too dry. therefore, i think its just like when a fire is burning incredibly hot and perfect, when the fibers are bursting open and exploding oils by the heat before they can be burned.

maybe i burning too many stems lol

could be spider mites snaping and poping lol

...heat up some other minerals and that same thing will happen.

1) improperly cured
2) seeds

is there any tiny immature seeds in the bud? if not definitely #1
