Hey what’s up guys it’s ya boi.
This will be my one grow journal of all things growing. I may have questions along the way. I am open to helpful tips. Please no shit posting or bantering. I’m straight business and science.

First update is the current situation. 4 plants in one DWC.
LED. Optic 4 and blurple viparspectra dimmable.
67liter rubbermade. Not sure where the 67liter starts but by my calculations the bin holds more H2O...
One 300 marina pump. One Walmart fish tank one. 2 stones.
Using GH maxi duo. And putting some GH pk booster lately.
GH flourolishous plus.
Epsom salts
Some calMax once and a while

I have some langbenite that I have been experimenting with in the reservoir.
I started the plants under the blurple at a dimmed light for energy savings. I eventually switched to the optic 4. And I just today added the blurple for extra light.
I’m thinking I’m in the 5th ish week of flower. I’m not sure how long since I flipped.

I also have a ghost pepper plant in soil with 4 peppers growing. . I have some scotch bonnet peppers in Rockwool that I give some water every time I check pH and ppm.

I also have tobacco plants growing Which I have made many seeds from crossing different types. This summer I will try a tobacco garden. They will all be F1s.

One of my first questions is in regards to Canadian growers, with the 4 plant limit, what system and methods are you using to maximize your time and yield? As well as play with different genetics? The 4 plant thing slows down genetic experiments...

One thing I just learned in regards to my climate is that you don’t want to be in deep flowering at this time because the humidity outside is starting to rise. Next time I would like to chop at the latest mid March, when it is very dry where I live.

So that’s my set up. Only issue I am having is dealing with humidity, I have to find a way to get fresh air in or out. How important is really CO2 ... how long until the plants use up all the co2 in a room ?

Ok I have a possible scheme to get big plants fast. The idea is focused around taking cuttings from big plants, and grafting onto a root stalk. You could take 100 cuttings and graft them all onto one plant. Basically make 1 super plant. Or two. The only thing is grafting success, has anyone had any success with grafting in anyway with this plant?

If grafting weed doesn't work, you can always learn how to graft Pecan trees. Only thing about grafting Pecan trees is you have to have land to grow a mother tree to get scion wood cuttings from.

Where I live it is -40celcius for 9 month of the year so I wish we could have trees like that here. We have crab apple trees here that make good apple pie. I grew some lemon plants from seed, has a big root stock, now I’m just waiting to find a lemon branch that makes lemons to try grafting.

New update

pH has been staying at 5.8 even though I am adding higher pH water, like 6.2, I fear the pH is creeping up. The PPM was also staying around 850 even though I add plain water. So it’s as if pH is going down and PPM going up.

I sucked a bucket of nutrient water out and replaced with plain water. Now the PPM is around 750 and pH around 6.

I think the ppm was too high I have more and more burnt tips. Ppm was not even over 900. ???

I cut up some cereal box’s and put all around the door to stop light leaks, it doesn’t work too good. Basically no one is allowed in the basement unless they have night vision goggles, ‘DONT TURN ON ANY LIGHTS IN THE HOUSE’ I yell. I think the light leaks have really slowed things down for over a week nothing has changed except the water level go down...

How much longer? For the tops? Il be to cut the tops first and let the middle get fatter. Il wait for more red hairs. Still lots of new white hairs, this goes with my theory that some bugs naturally ‘foxtail’ all around the entire bud and that’s what we call ‘stacking’. That being said I suppose it could go on forever..
jewlers loupe shows mostly clear and some cloudy. So I know 2 more weeks about.

One of the plants is STACKKING and swelling nice. One is a little behind but just started bulking up.

Humidity reaches as high as 55 in the night. I have to keep the door closed. It’s a closed room with barely no air in or out I think that’s a big issue

Forgot a couple.

I see on only a few leaves these brown spots looks like cold sores , is this calcium deficiency? I have some calMAX. It has 2%. Nitrogen though I’m not sure I want to put too much.. or magnesium? I could put some Epsom salts..? I also want to start adding some more GH KOOLBLOOM pk booster. But my ppms are already so high I don’t think I should. Maybe I drain a lot more water and replace with a mix of calMax Epsom and pk...?

Ok so it has been a week. I am getting impatient. I want a Magic way to speed up the finishing process. Starting to have issues with pH going down and ppm staying the same. I don’t have enough air pumping. The roots are not maximum happy.

I think I have had the light too close for too long. What if I pull it back a little ? Will that encourage faster finishing?
I can see some cloudy trichomes. And saw the first real amber trichome today as well. So I’m thinking by the end of next week could be the real window to start cutting.

There still not VERY smelly. I was thinking I would be stinking up the neighboor good. But it’s just a humid soft funk that doesn’t stink at all.

I have been adding plain tap water, naturally 7.5 ph to my res water of pH 5.5, hoping to bring it up. I don’t have any pH up...

Ok so. I’m thinking it’s very close to time! I think another few days before I take the tops off. Maybe leave the bottoms for another few days. On one hand I am tired of walking around in the dark! But I am being patient, had I not been patient I would have chopped 2 weeks ago.

What do you think ? I am starting to see amber tricombs. One plant hasn’t really shown cloudy trics but has some ambers, One plant has had cloudy trics all over for a while.

pH has been low 5.4-5.7. I don’t have pH up so I just use plain water to top up and hopefully bring up the pH.

‘Flushing’now, adding only water. Ppms are 400-500. But I’m going to suck all the res water out soon and replace with just water.

I put a couple sqwerts of GH floralicious

I’m starting to think the grow journal area isn’t the best place for fast advice ..

Is there any thing to add to boost the dank stank? They don’t smell SO much like I figured they would. Could they not be mature if they don’t smell? Should I add a lot of epsom? Or I have langbenite which also has sulfur..

I have a theory, that the plant slowly wants less and less ppm in flower. Other wise I get burning Each plant would be different, having a different slope of decline of ppm. To dial in for your plants you would have to do it a few times to figure it out. I think this because when I had the ppm too high it’s like the plant stalled and didn’t grow until I lowered it.

What’s up peeps. Lol. Well I have had enough, I am chopping these baby’s. Some are wow and some are meh. Trics are cloudy and some amber. I have been flushing. What’s interesting is that the ppm of the res went up to 270 when the tap water ppm is 170. Maybe flushing does suck things out of the plant. Or maybe there was residual ppm in the res. The optic 4 vs the viparspectra - wow the viparspectra didn’t bulk up any buds that’s for sure. The buds near the optic were thicc. But most underneith were not as penetrated. I think genetics is more important. Don’t use vipar for flowering unless you have a few extra months to thicken up. Chopped 4 down il be planting 4 more tonight.

Ghost peppers are growing well, I have pollinated it with some scotch bonnet, and those baby peppers look different already. Lighter colored. The pepper taste is like tropical candy. And then it burns a lot.

Hey guys what’s up it’s ya boi.
One successful grow down. No hicups no real problems at all really. But I will for sure do things differently next time. Make sure I use a sealed tent with a carbon filter. No for the smell, but to have only pure clean air and no particles enter and touch the plants. Like dust and dog hair. And ultrasonic humidifiers. They leave a powder behind, believe it’s on the plants too.

Behold the power of genetics, the size and structure differences make a difference. I took clones of the clear winner. Though smoke is everything, the yield and presentation have to be worth something.

Pics are the biggest to smallest average nugs.
And then the best nugs from each plant. The difference genetics can make. One was a clear winner in my particular grow style. The other two were larfy and leafy.

This is what ‘another 2 weeks’ can do. I had thought it was ‘ready’ and I just had to have a sample. So picked some off early. And I thought I would compare. The mass difference is.
The picked early one 4.7.
Fully mature 6.2.

The above pictures, showing the best nugs of each are 2.6. 6.2 2.5.

Total yield 261g. 84g of shwag larf, but still very smoke able. So that makes 180g of good stuff. Il say I vegged for 1 month but I don’t know when I flipped. It was a long go. Longer than next time. One plant made 28g. Another made 73g. In the same time. Same nutes. So is that a good yield? I’m happy. I know for next time to have way more air bubbles. And next time I will go full nutrients until the end, and flush for only a few days after they are done done. I believe withholding nutrients only slows down the plants growth.

Does anyone know of any other stresses or tricks to induce herming. I have been doing temperature swings also. So far no luck.

In bonsai, they defoliate and the leaves come back smaller, they do it again and the leaves are smaller, for display purposes.. the question is, will this also make the flowers smaller if used on this plant?
