so can you age cannabis in a wood container or something similar using flavours / odours from the wood to affect bud composition and possibly the consumption?

Most definitely! I would assume you take precautions to prevent mold.
You could order smaller volume barrels with removable lids. Use these to cure in, as opposed to glass jars.
Take the buds out once a day, mix them around, and put them back in. Do this for a few weeks to cure the bud well.

very interesting would you use a new oak barrel or one what had been used for a beverage like, wishey, brandy, rum, gin

I think a humador might be counter-intuitive but an air tight keg thats been scorched inside to release the woods flavor , then scraped to keep carbon from the actual product might be nice . plus charcoal residue is a known anti insectant , preservative , and reduces mold/fungus

i thought about something similar before. i was thinking make like a box out of oak or something. give it a nice oak flavor. interesting idea. i like yours even better with the jack daniels.

it may even be an idea for storing mass quantities of good bud ;) carbon is a great nullifier for odor ! we may have stumbled on to something big ^^
