So how many people use CO2 on their grows, and whats the results like?

So how many people use CO2 on their home/grows, and whats the results like? I have the opportunity to pick up a tank and reg for around $80, used of course, but i havent seen too many non commercial growers using it, but in books and videos, they make CO2 sound like its plant steroids or something. Or is CO2 only a good idea if you have a ton of plants?

CO2 is supposed to work best with higher temps.

I always use the DIY CO2 method, I'm not sure if it works but I still do it :)

open room brings in air exchanges for c02 replacement

sealed room, no intakes or outtakes, you supply c02.

trying to supply extra c02 in an open room is a waste of time and money

Okay thanks for the reply, Im planning on using it in a 4'x4'x8' tent, so i should be able to contain it pretty well. How long should a 10lbs tank last in a 4x4x8 tent? I plan on using a timer not a controller... I would go with a 20lbs tank but I found a used 10 for $20 so that's hard to pass on

i think you're wasting your time with that small set-up. You really need a monitor with a photocell to do it right. I would just do air exchanges and get free c02.

some of us can blend in what we need to do to make it work.The cost of co2 is basically zero for me so its no skin of my nuts.

Okay then... That's what I'm asking, how much bang for your buck do you get with co2? In a 4x4x8 tent with 6 plants in it. If it will pay for its self (in additional yield) then it is worth it, then ill do it.

try it dude.I bet you'll like the results.It might not "pay for itself" but you will notice it helps

afaik supplementing co2 is all about maintaining ideal co2 levels. that is why people usually use a ppm meter if they want to do it right. according to the article below, 1,100 ppm during the day and 500 ppm at night is optimal. i don't think you can achieve these co2 levels simply by exchanging air. i think the key word in your post is replacement. so the question we have to ask is, how much co2 is being replaced? subtract that amount of co2 from 1,100 and you now know how much co2 will benefit your garden.

why is a 4'x4'x8' room too small for co2? you can supplement co2 in any room. sure, it'd probably be a waste of time if you had a 2'x2' tent or something, but this dudes got plenty of space.

Hey thanks for the reply, yeah space is no problem. In fact I'm working on building a DIY " tent, one that's the same size as my current tent. I plan on using it as a veg room.

As for buying a controller, can't I get away with just using a timer for right now? I know ideally a controller is more efficient. There's no chance of over dosing them with co2 right?

A CO2 setup that cheap, jump on it. If you are running fans in your tent to extract or bring in fresh air, have them switch off for 15 to 20 minutes each hour, and have your CO2 dump valve on for 5 to 10 minutes of that time frame (at the lowest output setting, then there will be no chance of overdoing it, when you go with such a small dump). Use digital timers, they are easier to fine tune.

That tank will be used up in a couple of weeks, but since getting it refilled is free, so what. Roll with it. More CO2 with temps at least 75, but not great than 88 kicks ass. It will kick the yield up by 15 % easily, and maybe as much as 30 %. A CO2 controller is nice, but not a must have in a small tent setup. Ignore the nay sayers, do it up, then smoke it up.

I use co2 in all my grows. It does help shave a bit of flowering time off and it does add a lot to your yeild. Also makes your buds nice and dense. I use it in 4x8 tents and 4x4 tents from 20lb co2 tanks. 1 20 lb co2 tank does 1 flower cycle in a 4x8 tent. If your gonna use a timer it has to be a minue cule timer or better as the injections should last only 30 seconds or minute. You wanna keep the ppm at 1500 ppm or slightly higher. Temps should be around 80 degrees F. Co2 only during lights on. I run my co2 with a ppm controller so it will read the air ppm and use only as needed. I vent old air out and frsh air in twice during lights on using timers and automatic dampers to close off vents when not in use. Have fans down low blowing up as co2 is heavier then air and sinks so low fans suck it from down low and blow it up and it falls back to the plants.I would say I see an average of a 30% or better yeild increase with co2. Make sure the tank you get can be certifed and hasnt expired or you ll pay for recertification costs or need to find a tank swap store as they have to be certified and stamped to be refilled.Cost me about $20 to fill a 20lb tank. I use co2 burners in larger areas burning natural gas as I hook them into a gas line so no need to refill propane tanks.

To the ones saying co2 on a 4x4 tent is a wast then I have to question your growing knowledge as it is far from a wast since it costs less then $20 for the grow and the yields will definetly increases bud density increases and you shave almost a week off flowering time needs.

Been using c02 for 4 years and never seen this. First I ever heard of that too. For the cost of doing it right in a 4x4 tent, a simple air exchange would do just as well, IMHO
