If your growing a strain that has blues or purples in it then sometimes yes. Colder night time temps will bring out their color

From what I've heard it's strictly for bag appeal. For some reason a lot of the younger gen. have come to believe that anything purple is the best. Couldn't be further from the truth. It's been documented that most purple strains are lower in THC than non- purps.

Is there any real reason to do this? Anyone else do this?

Where exactly, has this been documented?

"The reason some strains of marijuana turn purple is the same reason why some trees leaves turn colors in the fall, why red grapes are purple, why a blood orange is so red, why an eggplant is purple, why blueberries are blue, and why black raspberries are black. This phenomenon is caused by the occurrence of something known as anthocyanin accumulation which causes anthocyanin to build up within plants. While chlorophyll is what gives weed and plants in general their green color, anthocyanin is what makes weed purple, and carotenoid is what will make weed yellow or gold"

a lot of skilled medical farmers . will turn there ac down to 60 to 55 f last 2 weeks of harvest brings out the color . tight dense buds. just all around better buds. makes them look pretty for sure. under 55 for get about it. risk frosting the crop. I see a lot of finished buds. nothing pisses me off more then people bragging how good there stuff is. purple haze that is not purple ? then its not grown correctly wont bring the premium dollar. the cooler the temp more color. some people say more strong thc. I disagree with this. you could have the most ugly looking plant and strong ass thc blow you back.

Interesting. Makes me wanna look up more on this, it doesn't have that much affect onbud potency does it? I mean I could care less about color, it would be cool to experiment with tho ;)

Its just a visual thing. If your producing for yourself their is no point, if your plant has purples or blues in it people will pay more for it cuz its the trendy thing to have now days

In my bong. The only purple worth a damn that I have tried is Grandaddy Purple, the least purple of the purple varieties.

Right on the money. Purple strains have less potency as the energy goes into the purpling over resin production.

Also, any plant can purple... it's not just genetics.

i couldn't direct you to the articles, it been a while since I was researching this. But I'm sure if you dug around the Internet you could find some articles pertaining to this. I believe it had something to do with the strains that have the purple trait. There's several different ways to get different colors from almost any cannabis strain. Mostly using different nute deficiencies. I've seen bright red, day glo orange, blues, blondes, and in the infamous purple.

connect, lol

I grow weed, I don't buy it.

Why would I grow purple varieties?
I prefer ugly pot that gets you baked.
I do not sell pot to teenagers, so I don't mess with purple weed.

Wow a lot of ppl comment on things they don't understand. Yea dropping the ac to the 50s at night will bring out color on your purp, blue, red, whatever colors your luscious buds are throwing out! But this also works to make the plants Produce more resin as the cooler the temp the plant try's to protect itself. So some strains not all work well with turning the ac down at nights. I personally only do it the last few weeks the plants in flower and I also use extremely cold water with ice when I flush the last 10 days. And my Gdp comes out great
