Of course we do. We had 30 million uninsured people, that's why we got Obamacare. Interesting stat from the CBO. They predict there will be 30 million uninsured AFTER Obamacare. I guess this means it's popular because it's caused a shit ton of people to lose their regular insurance and need the exchange. Well done.

Why are you for it again? Is it the decrease in costs for everybody or the fact that everyone will have insurance? It's hard to keep up.

the pool effect works..companies have been doing it for years with other insurances..it keeps costs down and encourages proactivity with your health status..it's been proven..if you choose to be uninsured and opt out that's your right as an american..step to the side and pay your 95$ opt out fee..but you are cutting off your nose to spite your face, because for the same 95$ you could have at the very least, a catastrophic policy with already negotiated pricing which I believe someone mentioned (on this board, maybe you) that they already do this..you might as well have something to show for it.
 
I wonder how many healthy young people are going to sign up for health care today?...In my opinion not very many, I believe they will pay the rent and fill there gas tank up part way and then run out of money....I predict that a lot of people that are sick or have some kind of medical problems will sign up in large numbers first...Which could be another train wreck....The poor young healthy people will let the government take there 95.00 from there tax return and not bitch to much until there buddy BarryO leaves office then they will take all or most of there tax return money.........We will see what happens..

well, if you are 26 or under and have a mommy or daddy who has "family" coverage through their place of employment..you are good to go..most 20-somethings are pretty smart..they understand way more than you think and they TALK to each other and follow general consensus on campus..

I have a son that is 26 and he is not on my Oregon Health Plan..If I called the state of Oregon and asked If my son was included on my OHP they would tell me sorry about your luck...I think you were miss led...Not all parents have a family health care plan that include kids up to 26....My policy is for a single person....

um, hmmmm, well i did say "family" coverage..this would not work for you and your son since your policy is for "single" coverage..currently all "family" or "single plus family" policies must include children up to 26.

This article is mentioning the same thing I was thinking....The young people have to pay soon or it will be a train wreck...We will find out soon if it works out, I don't think the young people are really going to jump on the band wagon right away....It is cheaper to vote than pay for health care...I want everybody to pay so they can feel what they voted for...

The real reason companies offer insurance is for the tax benefit. If you make $50,000 a year and get paid $50,000 a year, 100% of it is taxable. If you take $45,000 cash and $5,000 in health insurance benefits, only $45,000 is taxable. Employer-sponsored insurance amounts to a tax shelter worth hundreds of billions of dollars a for employees.

If you made $50,000 a year and spent $5,000 on your own insurance plan, you wouldn't get the tax benefit.
