Yea, I'm not entirely sure the above is accurate advice....
I use grow big soil (6-4-4) in my hydro system. It's formulated for soil, with a higher N content to make up for what gets washed out with the runoff in soil plants. It doesn't have any clumps or anything that will clog your hydro components. I use a the grow big at half strength and add a little more big bloom than I normally would and a little seaweed fertilizer to compensate. It's really more a question of dosing the individual nutrients.
I'm not recommending you do the same thing, but don't assume that just because it doesn't say hydro on the bottle you can't use it. As long as it's a liquid concentrate or something that dissolves in water, I don't see the problem....
