How many 100w solar panels would you need to run 3-600w hps for 12-12, t5 for 24hr..plus a few fans and dehumidifier? I have 5 solar panels I just got from a buddy and wanting to get off the grid.

A whole lot. Direct sun is short lived. 3 - 5 hours a day of peak output. Inverter loss, cost of massive storage cell bank and phat inverter... not at all cost effective.

3-600w lights =1800w.
assorted fan and dehumidifier/ timers/ 800-1000w
2800w total per hour (2.8KwH)
28 panels

but then you have storage banks for when the suns not shining, which comes with a wattage loss, and "friction Loss" through wires is going to increase your panels
