Solder Iron for Vaporizing?

sounds like a terrible idea.

get a heat gun, convection air works better than radiant heat for vaporization.

Yea, you'd have to use mostly conductive heat transfer... and that'd require some pressure on the plant material to maintain efficiently. Maybe more than one soldering iron, to sandwich the plant matter together, like knife hits.

It works great, I havent used a lighter in almost a year. I use the Hako 25 watt though, I like to hold it over the herb to vaporize it in my favorite bong. Or I also like to just lightly touch the herb and that also works really well, way better than using a lighter to scorch your herb. Plus you dont taint the taste of your herb with burnt butane and sulfer. It is like a perfect middle ground between a vaporizer and a lighter. I love mine and I will never go back to using lighters. Just give it a try.

I want to get one but I am afraid I would burn my house down or burn the fuck out of myself when I am stoned.

but I seriously suggest for max vape potential you use convective heat, instead of radiant heat.

Yea like he said they are not that hot, I have touched my hand twice with one and just left a little burn on my skin, nothing you couldn't get from a hot lighter. I always have mine sitting on a large ash tray. I like these because I could still vape by holding it over the bowl or I could just lightly touch the herb and I get fat ass clouds. I have alot of friends that bought vapes only to have them go back to their bongs and lighters because they missed the clouds of smoke, the taste, and the social aspect of smoking with friends. I like this because it eliminates the lighter which I never liked anyway. I could taste the sulfer and butane mixed in with my delicious chronz. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I agree but both are even better, the Phedor cost to much and the Hako dose the something for 3 times less.

A silver surfer has a similar rod compontent also

i'm with you 619, right on! i got the same model Hakko, it fucking rocks....literally gets you higher than with just lighter, i love it..and the taste, so delicious...but my first true love is Solar Toking, all you need is sun and a mag glass...even fishing, on a windy day you can blaze, it's awesome....

So I pulled the trigger.

I got:

Took me 2 seconds to unscrew the tip and expose the ceramic.

It is 20w and when plugged in it gets hot but not red hot. I put it on a upside down ceramic plate when not using and it stays hot but not dangerously hot (I like this because it does not stay red hot the whole time it is plugged in and I feel it is MUCH safer). I touched it and it was warm but it did not burn me. There is a button on the handle that when pressed turns to 130w and the ceramic element gets glowing red hot in 2 seconds.

It is the coolest thing I have found. My buddy was vaporizing through my bong by holding it horizontal and moving it back and forth over the bowl. I was "smoking" using the same bong by holding the iron close the the green in the bowl but not actually touching the green.

The hits were super clean through my clean glass. And the bong seemed to stay a lot cleaner than usual (could be cause we were totally ripped off of less quanity than usual). I am sold on the soldering iron.

hell ya brother, there so badass!! i hardly ever use a lighter anymore...the taste is soo pure, how it's supposed to be...nice purchase...

The iron that I got is awesome - the fact that it stays warm but not enough to do damage and at the press of a button is literally red hot in seconds is perfect for the task. It is also one of the cheaper irons as well.

I don't think I will ever use a lighter again at home. I really like the super clean taste when burning. I am kind of a snob when it comes to taste. I plugged it in, filled my bong with water, grinded my herb, loaded the bowl, picked up the iron, pressed the button and I had clean hits. It wasn't even inconvienent.

My buddy who also has a volcano was really impressed with the vapor. He said that if he knew about this he would have not bought the Herbalaire (because it took forever to heat up) that he owned before the Volcano and gone from the soldering iron straight to the Volcano.

Hey guys my friend told me of another iron that it coming out called the herb iron or herbal iron. I guess the finally listend to us and made somthing that is stoner friendly and it isn't a rip off at 159.99! It has a push button so it is not always on and it heats up red to the tip in 8 seconds. I will ask my friend for more details.

damn, 159 seems pretty steep..i got mine for 30 bucks...i just plug mine into a power bar with a switch, whenever i need it, just flick the switch and toke, haha...

Yea the Phedor costs 159. I think the one my homie told me about was going to cost 70 bux or something. I have two friends that got the phedor and they say it sucks and it was way overpriced. Plus I like the idea of just pushing a button, hit my bowl, then just set it down and walk away. Sounds cool, cant wait to see how it is.
