spidermites in dirt?

i have some red spidermites in my dirt none on the plants?????how do i combat this?????

There's another type of mite (red ones) that live in soil (not on plants) that are actually good to have - they're predators. Maybe (hopefully) that's what you have? Try googling (try 'red soil mite' - can't remember the name), and comparing some pics.

garlic oil
neem oil
seame oil

ciinnamon-clove tea can be brewed useing powered cinnamon and clove use a ounce per gallon of water strain tea first that will kill them

yes i found them pergamassus sp. they are predator mites thank god.....

If you want to get rid of them just remove up to a half inch of soil around the pot BECAREFUL to not rip away any roots and replace with fresh soil then i would also spray a little of what that XBOX recommended just to be safe.

I've actually had the same problem.. Red mites in the soil... They eventually dissapered.. With no effort at all

now u need to figure out what parasite they are eating that made them want to colonize

i dont know if they were already in the soil or what i dont see how they would get into room hopefully they will get hungry and eat each other

They may have just came with the soil, and like chronik's experience, they'll just die off when they don't find enough to eat.

I dumped some of my coco/perlite pots into my compost bin and a few weeks later there where red mites crawling around. I looked them up and found they are a good organism in my environment. I don't know if they will still be there when the stuff finally comes back in and they are not in my house, but I wouldn't try to eradicate them unless I new what they where.

I mean I don't think we should be eradicating earthworms and stuff that we understand as a beneficial thing.
