I'm going to harvest this chick soon. So today I took all her fan leaves and started feeding blackstrap molasses.

I'm guessing two weeks. Trichs are 95% cloudy with a sprinkling of Amber right now

Why what? Why harvest in two weeks? Because I think she'll be ready. Why take all the fan leaves off? To make harvesting easier. Why blackstrap molasses? Because it's been used for a long time in agriculture because of the nutrients it adds and (it's been said) it helps bud flavor.

Why take the fan leaves off with two weeks to go and why wait until now to feed molasses because it's used to feed the microbes in the soil not to sweeten the buds.

I took the fan leaves off because, like I said, I'm making harvest easier on myself. Sure, I understand that they are what the plant uses to soak up light, but I decided to take the fans off now. I don't think it's detrimental, particularly considering that a lot of people defoliate completely much sooner than two weeks prior to chopping.

I understand the arguments against heavy defoliation, and mostly agree with them. However, I'm confident that a heavy defoliation now is not going to negatively affect my plant. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

I have been feeding molasses for a month now, but not heavily or regularly. I'm now feeding it regularly and much heavier (going from one tablespoon every third watering to two tbls each water).

You seem to disagree with my decisions, which is okay and completely acceptable. If you have a differing opinion, you're free to share it with me.

We're all here to learn and share our experiences. That's all. If you can give input, I'm open to it. That's why I started this thread.

Hi nug,
Are you using silica at all. I understand that silica applied as foliar spray can change leaf ph and discourage insects and powder mold. Totally safe...something to consider.

I haven't heard of it. I'll check it out for next year. Finding a good insecticide spray for flower has been my biggest worry this year. My two big girls have been pretty bug free, but this auto was a struggle. Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out for sure!

Yes and the silica will also do it's other things. Stronger stems and such. I only grow indoors and haven't dealt with bugs much so don't have an insecticide to reccomend...but good luck with that.

That's a good point. I do that too, and will try to pay attention to it now. I never really thought about it like that. Thanks. And I just noticed how many people have avatars with pics that might be kinda offensive to some women too. My woman wouldn't mind them, but I could see how some could. Kinda crazy.

I caved to my impatience and harvested today. I did a bud wash and hung this bad girl up to dry.

I mean, considering that I planted her late June, mistakenly started to manifold and subsequently seriously defoliated, she made amazing progress. Just look at the August 7th photograph versus September 19th, combined with my post harvest photos... I'm thinking at least two ounces off of a two month, half ass grow.

(I don't really know about the two ounces... I'm notoriously bad at these estimates)
