Stealth cab - is 600w cooltube too much?

Growing in a armoire that measures 47.5" wide x 19.5" deep x a bit over 60" tall. Is a 600w cooltube vented out the back of the cabinet going to be too much for that size space? Should I move down to 400w? Going to be scrogging and lsting to help with yields want to maximize yield for the space. Was planning to go LED but just not sure I'm ready for the investment to get a comparable yield without any real guarantee. I know from my previous grow I can put out a good harvest under hps. Thoughts? I may still get a 240w veg/clone blackstar for vegging/clone chamber.

mmm..

take it from me, LED is only good for supplemental light. You wont get the density and flowering will take forever. as far as the cab size goes my room is 30x18x48 inches and i am considering a 400w cooltube HPS in an aero setup.

I would suggest taking a look around here to see if others have tried 600w in a small space. You might not need it. the only benefit of 600w is a faster grow time and a larger yield.

On the LED note, if you go that way, make sure you have a HPS also :). My homemade 150w light keeps temps at 32 degrees C in my cab with my current fan setup. So I wouldnt agree that LEDs are particularly cold to run :P

Yes, I've grown with both 400w hps and 600w hps so I'm aware of the difference in final results ;) That's why I was really wanting to go 600w. But 600w puts off a LOT of heat. I think it would be too much. I already went ahead and ordered a 400w cooltube w/ digital ballast online last night :) I am planning on still getting a blackstar for extra lighting just to see how much of a difference it makes. And yes for heat the wattages I'd want to run in the cabinet would also present heat issues too (without good ventilation). My main problem is that I am going to set up some good ventilation in the cab for the light, but it's still going to be in a cabinet in a room with no fresh air other than what the central a/c blows in... i think with a 400w though heat shouldn't be too big of an issue if the cab venting is good. Hoping with the scrog and a little extra led lighting i can get some decent yields.
