Sterilite Grow Room

Hello I am on my second grow my first was a very small LST in my fish tank stand, the next one had to be bigger.

So I did some research on pre-built cabinets and decided to purchase a Sterlite cabinet from Target for 80 bucks.

After 2 days of fabrication I can say that I'm almost there maybe a few hours left.

The biggest problem it's given me is the flimsy plastic's inability to hold light in.

The supplies used are
White Duct Tape
White Poster Board
Aluminum Tape
70 CFM Bathroom Fan
Few 120mm Computer Fans
3 Bulb Bathroom Light Fixture
18" Under Cabinet Fluorescent
Digital Thermometer
Power Strip
Shiny Insulation
and Wire

If you've read my post about Attitude you'll know that I am eventually going to grow:
Double Gum
Afghan Mafia
Power Skunk
and Northern Lights

I'm starting with some bag seed to get the kinks worked out and will be adding to this thread once I have the room finished.

If anyone has experience growing in these cabinets please give me a shout. I would like to know how you sealed the front doors.

Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks SmokesLikeBob, here are the dimensions:
25-3/4" L x 19" W x 69-1/2" H

It's a decent size cabinet, just hard to seal the light in.

Sweet!!!! a few of my bag seeds popped.
And their off!
Lets hope for a couple of ladies...

The Mom, seedling area is kind of done for now, at least enough to hold the seedlings.

That's great, my seeds are giving me problems germinating though! and let's hope they're all little ladies! and are you having problems sealing the sides of the door, or is light escaping THROUGH the door itself?

get some panda and velcro or thick garbage bags with a white one on the inside, im not sure but is there a door on the box? if so theres weather stripping foam with glue on one side for doors and windows or rubber weather stripping the kind u see at the bottom of doors can take a walk around hardware store and i am sure you can come up with many ideas too fix your problem. looking good so far. theres another guy on here i forget his name but he went ape shit on a cubby a bit bigger then yours ended up costing over a g to put together and still had some probs with heat just make sure that you have adequate ventilation and you will be ok might b cold now but getting hotter soon. gud luck!

SmokesLikeBob the plastic is just too thin to be blocking the light. I already put a layer of poster board in the cavity of the grow space held up with aluminum tape. I don't know if it's the intensity of the lights? i doubt it though, it's just 6 23w CFLS, just doesn't make sense that the light could penetrate poster board. What technique are you using to germinate?

Thanks macrael, I thought of using some black and white poly, but the grow shop nearest to me only sells it in 100' rolls. I just don't have the budget for the poly now. I also have the sticky weather stripping for the door. I just haven't worked out the formula yet, I'm just surprised that the lights can go through the poster board, it's pretty thick about 1/4 inch. I also have the shiny bubble wrap insulation which seemed to work on the side that I covered. I think I'm going to continue down that path.

Thanks for the help.

I was able to seal off many of the light leaks with aluminum tape and clever insulation placement.

Could someone please tell me when I should move the seedlings from low intensity lighting? Should I wait until I have a second set of nodes or is it alright to move them now?

Also, I'm planning to change the lighting in the bottom from 23w to 68w bulbs http://www.homedepot.com/Electrical-Light-Bulbs-Compact-Tube-Fluorescents/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xgfZbmaeZ1z11juk/R-100676712/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1 does anyone have experience growing with these bulbs. My last grow had very fluffy buds. I was hoping that upgrading to 6 of these would help the buds get dense.

Thanks for the help.

it looks like you're doing everything right! great job man, and i think waiting for the second node would be a nice time to switch to stronger light, and are those lights at your local store? anyways they should really compact your bud better!

Your set-up is nice! I have a sterilte veg/auto flower cab myself. You dont need to seal the doors if you run your lights 24/7.
