Strain height and place concerns

Hello,

i am a big fan of recreational smoking, just now decided to start up my own grow room @ home. I read pretty much everything available on growing and lights and spaces, what i still had hard time figuring out though is what strains can i grow in a relatively small tent(i know indicas for sure). First i would like to say a few words on my goal. Since i live in Europe and no dispensaries are available to us, nor good quality weed of that i know of in my area, i need to do it on my own. So basically what i want to achieve is to have decent supply(meaning vegetating my plants a bit longer to have greater yields) and variety. Depending on my mood i'd like to have a few indicas and some sativas. This is where my concern came in. I would like to limit the space of my grow room as much as possible probabily to 2.5x2.5x5. Is it possible to grow sativas in a 5" height grow tent?
To be more exact i would like to grow Jack Herer or its variety, some G13, Blueberry, Pineapple express, variety of Kush and Sour Diesel. With a 3x3 tent my question is really not relevant as their height i would assume is enough, but i would like the tent to be as small as it can be, so the question is can i grow in a 5"(120cm) tall tent these strains i mentioned and later some other sativas possibly, even Haze?

Thanks for the answers in advance. The question might be basic but im a total beginner and dont know where else to ask? :)

Welcome to RIU!

You can grow a plant to most any height you desire by adjusting veg time. There is a big thread on growing sativas under 12/12 lighting from germination. I'm sure that keeps heights down. Plus you can train and prune and top to mold your plants to your space.

Sounds like you are doing things the right way. I'll follow along and help out where I can.

general rule of thumb is plants triple whatever size they are when you start 12/12. Don't underestimate growth in 12/12... my first plant was 2ft tall when 12/12 started and 7ft when it was done.

Sativas triple in size usually.. Indicas Double in size usually.. I would try putting sativas when there 1 foot tall That way they hopefully wouldnt get much higher that four feet..

Thanks guys for the answers. It was really helpful in my decision making towards making the purchase of my tent. I am now in the process of acquiring the grow equipment and looking for a variety of seeds and once im done i'll do a journal of my grow. It will be for sure interesting i am already excited. :)

You should spend a little more time planning things out. If you are starting from seed and with a really small space...planning is everything.

When you start from seed, you'll first need to find out if they are female or male. So you must grow them out, take a clone from them, flower the clone...all while maintaining mothers. This will take several months of time and effort.

You could go with feminized seeds, but I have no experience with those....they don't seem natural to me, so i wouldn't use them.

The other option is to simply flower out all your seeds and throw the male plants away. But them you won't be maximizing your gardening space/yield..

many many things to think about...
