Charging an annual fee to post listings makes more sense. Let the listers assume all responsibility as far as how they get their money. The only sales "requirement" should be some token generated per sale to protect the customer and allow for a meaningful feedback system.

Strainly trying to take a cut via crypto will only drive sellers away. It's stupid.
Strainly is literally committing suicide. Never have I heard of having to pay a separate fee, before receiving any money in the first place? Forcing people to use bitcoin? And if the buyer never pays, then what? INSANE! I feel bad for the sellers. Strainly wont last a year if they keep it up

If the buyer doesn't pay you gotta hit up Strainly for a refund. I already have 5 of them. I'm gonna wait til 10 and email them. New system is garbage.

With regard to whomever runs Strainly, that dude is a passive aggressive mfer. He took offense to a post I made about no longer wanting to sell my gear on Strainly. They also got offended by a comment that someone made, and my reply about scammers (which the platform is absolutely full of, which Strainly did nothing about btw). He got mad at that, and pointed out that I used their service for free to make two dozen transactions. I said yeah, I was using the service as I was allowed to do so. Basically they were trying to imply how ungrateful of a freeloader I was being. But they never came out and actually said it. Implied heavily though.

While that was going on, they sent me an email offering me a free month of their Pro membership to stay. I politely declined, but also said that I thought that they were making a huge mistake by the implementation of an upfront sellers fee, only payable via Bitcoin. A fee that a seller pays whether the buyer waffles or doesn't. I also explained again that I only used their service as they allowed me to do.

They later passive aggressively replied,

"Thanks for showing you never intended to pay for the service. So far, it proves to be the best move we've made. It keeps only the people who are serious and committed about their genetics business/hustle."

So I basically let them have it. I'm a pretty even keeled guy, but told them what I thought. Not so politely. I now see that a lot of the nasty shit they said on their IG page about how only pollen chuckers and scammers left their platform, and everything else is deleted. They also sent me a long email which I half bothered to read. What's the point?

They then went back to my Green Wolfe Seed Co page to call me out for my email to them, and all of my ad hominem attacks, which it's true I called them a zealot, a little kid, and maybe something else. There was some swearing, but it was adjectives. Seemed like they were trying to gaslight me, because I couldn't use their own passive aggressive comments against them from their page, since they'd already cleaned it all up yesterday. Which is weird, because some of those comments had been there for a few days to a week. But there were more people complaining than not.

Or maybe they be just wanted to clean up the mess. Either way, transparency at it's finest. I think it's damage control, and I think they are trying to save face. It's not working.

For the record, asking for a fee to sell seeds is not a big deal. Should be expected. But what you actually get from them in terms of service is not worth paying for. And charging you a fee up front is insane. Also forcing that fee to be paid only in Bitcoin is also insane. Best of luck to them..

Dealing with getting a refund from Strainly right now. He makes it about impossible and forces you to have a reserve amount in your wallet on strainly. So you'll never get a full refund even if you do figure it out. I'm funnelling all my customers off the site, it's gonna go under.

In concrete terms, what prevents the STRAINLY admin from anonymously contacting sellers to obtain transaction fees and live off it... This system is very strange, and it shocks everyone, but maybe it's not is not for nothing, on reflection it can bring him big in the long term, but to remain completely anonymous, his only solution is bitcoin, his philosophy must be, patience, install the confidence of sellers for years. month and decides one day to contact all the sellers to collect a small sum of money, it stinks

That's really unfortunate that he's doing that to you. Sorry to hear that. He's a real piece of work.. I'm glad that I abandoned ship. It's sinking fast.

I have wondered about that. With what I've learned by dealing with them (whether it's one person or a group) they/him/her are incredibly crafty and sly. Intelligent in an evil genius sort of way. But also easy to see through, because their contempt seems to politely boil over in every correspondence. The accounts of others that I've read (several) also bear that out. I seriously would not put it past them, especially considering the bitterness that they have for users who used their platform without paying them.

I suspect that they wanted me to just take the bait, and get a free month of Strainly Pro, so that I would no longer be able to criticize them. They could say, see you took the free service, and you're ungrateful. When I declined, and explained why politely, they backhandedly insulted me. So it was on after that. In hindsight, I should have let it go. They are figuratively on the Titanic right now, and it's not going to be pretty when it sinks.

I'd advise anyone on that platform to leave. Not for my own personal satisfaction (though I do take some) but because they are very deceptive and manipulative. I might kind of be an asshole sometimes, but I'll at least stand toe to toe and be up front about it. But they don't play fair.

The guy that runs it is on another forum and has been catching hell on his thread ever since the Bitcoin announcement. I don't follow it over there but he did a bunch of explaining and back tracking when the change first started to cause issues with the sellers. There are just too many good places to get clones now and way less third party involvement in the process at other vendors. I think it has/had potential all along but just wasn't all that it could have been.

Snips from Pigtail Gardens, day of arrival:

View attachment 5157997
Sent via UPS, arrived from West coast to East coast in 2 days.
Imo these looked just ok. I’d give them a 6/10 for overall health. However thoroughly inspected and they are bug and pathogen free. After a few days in rockwool under a dome, they’ve greened up and looking decent. I have no doubts they’ll root.

Overall I’m satisfied. Customer service has been excellent.
How they come out I be curious of cuts

Today I spoke with STRAINLY, clearly asking him about the problem of false invoicing that could be done by his team, here is his answer, what do you think?

Hi there,

1. This is a one man show. I am one single operator, with one dev who has limited access. You can argue you still need to trust me. Fair enough.
2. When you think about it, whether me or anyone working for Strainly (in theory, even 100 people), would still have to pay for the ordered item! It is a net negative operation. I spend $100 out of my pocket to get $6 fee. I am net negative $94... Great! I now sit on a huge inventory of seeds and clones after repeating the operation to collect fees. I now need to operate a store to sell those acquired genetics... Why would I run Strainly in the first place? I'd rather sell seeds with a bigger margin in the first place. Seedbanks take a lot more than 6% fees.
3. As explained, you are eligible to a fee refund if the buyer backs out. So imagine I am the buyer (hidden behind a fake profile), I back out after the seller paid the fee... Now you (the seller) come back to me saying this buyer did not pay, please refund my fee. And you get your money back. As the admin, I can verify the buyer never paid the seller. If the buyer paid the seller, then no problem. Seller is happy. There is no flaw here. I spent years mapping out this thing.
4. But now let's suppose I do this for a couple of months... and refuse to refund the fees. All vendors leave, nothing is left on the platform, Strainly shuts down. I lose my personal savings invested in this platform. Just to give you an idea... tens of thousands of dollars invested in the past 6 months only... There is just no incentive for me to do this.
5. Regarding your suggestion. Again, Strainly is not moving the money between parties. Buyers pay sellers DIRECTLY. Strainly does not even see the transactions. You guys want the flexibility of using a multitude of payment methods. THERE IS NO WAY TO DEDUCT A FEE. You need to realize that this industry cannot be served by the regular payment processors. It will never work like eBay or Amazon. With those platforms, they hold the money and transmit it. Huge regulatory implications. Also, this implies you leak your identity and sellers go through full KYC/Identity verification (like you do on Paypal for instance). You will never accept that, rightly so.
6. Pay attention to items descriptions and sellers' profiles. They usually say if they ship overseas or not. If they accept your request and then refuse to ship to you, they contact me and ask for a fee refund. Simple as that.
7. If I ask for the fee after the transaction is made, no one will ever pay... I cannot run after you guys.

Best,
